The Division of Plant Omics at CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar is actively engaged in multidisciplinary research in frontier areas of modern biology and biotechnology such as stress genomics & proteomics, transgenic, plant-microbe interactions, metagenomics, marine biotechnology, adaptation biology, etc. We are looking for young, talented & motivated persons for a CSIR, New Delhi, sponsored Project “CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative- Phase II (Soil & Water Testing Lab Analyst; NWP-100)”.

How to Apply

Interested candidates meeting the above qualifications may send their application in the prescribed

format only by e-mail ([email protected]) in advance before 20 April 2023 (No application will be considered after 5.45 PM on 20 April 2023) for the screening procedure. Candidates should send a scanned copy of the application in the prescribed format pasted with a passport-size photo and one set of all certificates (which will be verified with originals at the time of joining) for the screening procedure to appear in the interview. Application forms and scanned documents must be sent as a single PDF file (No separate files). Screened candidates will be called for an interview and will be intimated through E-mail. The interview will be held on 28.04.2023 (10.30 AM – 1.00 PM) at CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar.  An incomplete application/without an application format would be rejected during screening.

The posts are purely temporary for the duration of sponsored project/scheme only. It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim implicit or explicit for any candidates for claiming extension or absorption in CSMCRI/CSIR. The candidate himself/herself has to make arrangements to appear in the interview at CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar, No TA/DA will be provided.

Essential Qualification: M. Sc. Microbiology / Biotechnology

Desirable: work experience in Metagenomics, Real-time PCR and Next-generation-sequencing

Fellowship: 

  1. Rs. 31000/- + HRA@pm for M. Sc. (Microbiology / Biotechnology) scholars who are selected through (a) National eligibility tests-CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) a selection process through National level examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutes.
  2. 25000/+HRA@pm for others i.e. M.Sc. (Microbiology / Biotechnology) who do not fall under (a)and (b) above.

  1. What inspired you to apply for this position, and why are you interested in this particular field of research?
    Answer: I am very passionate about microbiology and biotechnology and have always been interested in multidisciplinary research areas such as stress genomics & proteomics, transgenic, plant-microbe interactions, metagenomics, marine biotechnology, and adaptation biology. This position aligns with my research interests, and I believe it will be an excellent opportunity for me to apply my skills and knowledge to contribute to the project.
  2. Can you describe your experience with Metagenomics, Real-time PCR, and Next-generation-sequencing?
    Answer: During my Master’s program, I gained practical experience with Metagenomics, Real-time PCR, and Next-generation-sequencing. I was involved in a project where we used these techniques to analyze microbial diversity in soil samples. I am familiar with the protocols and procedures for handling DNA samples, setting up PCR reactions, analyzing data, and troubleshooting potential issues.
  3. How do you stay up-to-date with the latest developments in your field?
    Answer: I regularly attend scientific conferences, read research articles, and subscribe to scientific journals to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in my field. I also network with other researchers in my field and participate in online forums and discussions.
  4. Can you describe a time when you faced a difficult problem in your research and how you approached it?
    Answer: During my Master’s thesis project, I faced a challenge with the data analysis, where the results were not consistent with what we expected. To solve the problem, I carefully re-evaluated the methods used and identified a small technical error in the protocol. I repeated the analysis, and the results were consistent with our hypothesis. This experience taught me the importance of careful attention to detail and critical thinking in research.
  5. What do you hope to achieve by working on this project, and how do you plan to contribute to its success?
    Answer: I hope to contribute to the success of this project by utilizing my skills and knowledge in microbiology and biotechnology to provide meaningful insights and contributions to the research team. I plan to collaborate closely with my colleagues, learn from their expertise, and bring my unique perspectives and ideas to the table. Ultimately, I hope to make a valuable contribution to the scientific community through the results of this project.
