About us

Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a common disease that afflicts nearly 60 million people worldwide of which 6 million (10%) resides in India. Apart from being a physical disease, epilepsy has a strong mental and social implication. The unpredictability of the epileptic attack leaves the patients helpless and most of the time at the mercy of others.

Approximately one-third of patients, whose seizures are not responsive to antiseizure medications (drug-resistant epilepsies), can be cured of their

seizures by surgical treatment (epilepsy surgery). Amrita Advanced Centre for Epilepsy (AACE) provides comprehensive care to individuals who suffer from epilepsy.
