Applications are now invited for two Research Assistants to join the team of the Crop Improvement program at TIGS.
TIGS, founded in 2017, is a non-profit research institute that aspires to develop solutions to challenges in human health and agriculture. TIGS is a unique initiative to support applications of cutting-edge science and technology in genetics and genomics to solve societal problems in the country. The most significant challenges that impede the achievement of health equity and nutrition security for all of India’s population require systematic evidence-based scientific advancements and technological solutions. Research programs at TIGS are focused on three broad areas: Infectious Diseases, Rare Genetic Disorders, and Crop Improvement.
TIGS is a program driven research institute with a focus on solving pressing societal challenges. We are seeking applications from enthusiastic candidates to join as Research Assistant in Crop Improvement division.
Name of the Post – Research Assistant

Number of positions – 02
Duration – Initially for one year and extension based on performance review.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Research Assistant (JC – 13): Selected candidates are expected to support ongoing tissue culture and transformation experiments; develop tissue culture protocols for new crop species and support vector construction and molecular characterization of genome-edited events. In addition, experience in collecting phenotypic data from greenhouse-grown plants is an added advantage.
Essential Qualifications/Requirements
- Master’s degree in Plant Sciences, Plant Biotechnology, Genetics and Plant Breeding or related discipline with 1-2 years of relevant research experience.
- Preference will be given to the candidates with relevant research experience (tissue culture and transformation of crop plants/vector construction/molecular characterization).
