MID-YEAR RESEARCH ADMISSIONS 2022-23
Guidelines for Candidates:
Applications are invited from eligible applicants for admissions to Research Programmes [(Ph.D. / MS(Engg.) / MS(Research)] programmes offered by the Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit, Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit, New Chemistry Unit, Neuroscience Unit and Theor
etical Sciences Unit.Applicants possessing the educational qualifications including those in the final semester/year of their qualifying examinations but expect to complete all the requirements for the award of the degree (like examinations, project dissertations, viva-voce etc.,) by 30.12.2022 and can furnish necessary certificates on 02 January 2023 are eligible to apply.
RESEARCH PROGRAMMES [Ph.D. / M.S(Engg.) / M.S(Research)]
A) Eligibility
Candidates with an M Sc. or equivalent, B.E/B.Tech/B.S (4 years) or equivalent or M.E/M. Tech or equivalent or MBBS/MD as applicable to individual Units as given in the table below are eligible to apply. They should have at least 55% in their highest University examination and should also have qualified in any one of the national exams: GATE/JEST/GPAT/UGC-JRF/CSIR-JRF/ICMRJRF/DBT-JRF/INSPIRE-JRF. The award certificate of such a test should have the validity period for seeking admission to the research programme as on 2nd January 2023. Qualifying for the national exam is desirable for ME/M. Tech or equivalent degree holders.
B) Selection procedure
Candidates are short-listed for an interview based on their performance in the national entrance test and academic performance. The selection is based on the performance in the interview.
Note: Interviews will be held only offline. If there’s any change, it will be notified on the admissions website.
HOW TO APPLY
Applications for all the programmes mentioned above are available online (only online applications will be considered).
APPLICATION FEE
The application fee is Rs.500/- be paid through Demand Draft. The DD should be in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, payable at Bangalore. Any bank service charges must be borne by the applicant. The application fee is non-refundable.
IMPORTANT DATES
- The website opens for online submission of applications on 19.10.2022.
- The last date for submission of online applications (the website closes at 23:59 hours on 14.11.2022) – is 14.11.2022.
Scholarships: All the regular students joining JNCASR are eligible for a scholarship from JNCASR/ CSIR / UGC/ ICMR / DBT /INSPIRE depending upon their mode of entry.
