Advertisement for engaging Project Personnel on a Contractual basis

The Wildlife Institute of India is an internationally acclaimed Institution, which offers training programs for government and nongovernment personnel, academic courses and advisory in wildlife research and management. The Institute is actively engaged in research across the breadth of the country on biodiversity-related issues.

The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun invites application forms for engaging the different Project Personnel for the project titled “Cumulative Environment Impact Assessment on wildlife habitat and ecological values due to proposed doubling of railway track from Tinaighat to Kulem in the northern Western Ghats”. The period of recruitment will be for 12 months.

Field Sites: Forest areas of the States of Goa and Karnataka in the northern Western Ghats

Name of the Post – Project Scientist II (Ecologist) OR Project Scientist I (Ecologist)

No. of Posts – 01

Duration – 12 months

Age – 40 & 35 respectively

Qualifications

Essential Qualification Project Scientist II: (i) Doctoral Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences from a recognized University, (ii) Minimum three (03) years relevant experience post PhD.
OR
Essential Qualification Project Scientist I: Doctoral Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences from a recognized University.

Desirable qualification (DQ):

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated experience/ aptitude in a) spatial analysis and ecological modelling, b) statistical analysis, c) project design and coordination of multi-disciplinary project team and field data collection d) research publications in peer-reviewed national/ international journals.

General Terms and conditions:

  1. The selection of the candidates will be in accordance with the performance in the interview and in order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee. All original documents should be produced at the time of the interview. The decision of the Institute’s Committee in all matters relating to eligibility, work experience, acceptance or rejection of the application will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual.
  2. The candidates are required to submit their completed application forms in PDF format, with accompanying attachments by email (with the subject line: Application for the post of ______________ in the Project “Cumulative Environment Impact Assessment on wildlife habitat and ecological values due to the proposed doubling of railway track from Tinaighat to Kulem in the northern Western Ghats” to [email protected] not later than 1700 hrs on 20th September 2022. A hard copy of the application along with attachments with the above subject line should be sent to The Registrar (PR), Wildlife Institute of India, Chandrabani, Dehradun 248001, Uttarakhand by post which should reach the Institute up to 1700 hrs on 20th September 2022.
  3. Application forms need to be typed according to the prescribed format and must be accompanied by self-attested: (a) Scanned copies of educational qualifications, and (b) Scanned copies of experience letters/ certificates, etc., failing which applications will not be considered.
  4. Candidates can apply for multiple positions if eligible. Please make separate applications for different posts.
  5. Shortlisting of applications for online interviews of applications will be based on essential qualifications, age limit, NET/ GATE qualification, percentage of marks in bachelor’s and Master’s, specialization relevance in Masters, research experience (Publications, Paper Presented in Workshops/ Seminars/ Symposiums/ Conferences), SOP and extracurricular activities (as per WII rules).
  6. The applications received will be rejected by the Institute, if (i) receive after the deadline, (ii), are not in the prescribed application format or (iii) self-attested documents of qualification, date of birth & experience are not attached or (iv) received without a said subject line in e-mail/ post.
  7. Mere fulfilment of the minimum advertised qualification and experience requirement DOES NOT automatically entitle an applicant to be called for an online interview. The decision of the Institute in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of the application, and mode of selection will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual or his / her agency.
  8. All the steps of the recruitment process will be conducted by a duly constituted Selection Committee. However, if the number of applications received for a particular post(s) is large, then Institute reserves the right to lay down any criteria for the purpose of short-listing the candidates for interview.
  9. All original documents/certificates must be produced at the time of joining for necessary verification.
  10. At the time of the verification of original documents or even after selection, if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal, misrepresent, or canvass the facts, such applicant will not be considered for selection and due action will be taken.
  11. Relaxation in the upper age limit shall be allowed in accordance with the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training) OM No.1501282/2010-Estt. (D) dated 27.03.2012 as amended from time to time. However, the categories of upper age relaxations are as follows: a. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes up to 5 years. b. Other Backward Class (OBC) up to 3 years.
  12. The positions advertised are purely temporary/ contractual for the project period only and will stand abolished after completion of the project.
  13. The tenure of the project will be governed by the Institute’s rules and regulations.
  14. After the announcement of the results, the candidate should join the project within 15 days of selection.
