Clinical Content Analyst

The Team: Clinical Content Team is responsible for leveraging industry-accepted clinical terminology datasets coupled with clinical informatics knowledge in the athenaNet platform to improve the product and advance our services. The Clinical Content Analyst is a critical contributor to this process. He/she will play a critical role in the intellectual capital building process for athenahealth using standard clinical terminology and principles of clinical informatics.
As a Clinical Content Analyst, you should be interested in combining your medical and technology background to improve the terminology function. You should be applying analytical skills and are comfortable looking for answers in a sea of data. Should be careful and detail-oriented but at the same time very efficient in your work, and always looking for ways to streamline processes and cut out waste.
Primary function:
- Map assigned Lab and Imaging orders to relevant Global orders within a defined timeline
- Execute projects and produce deliverables within defined timelines
- Should have a good understanding of LOINC, SNOMED, and other clinical terminology data sets to manage our clinical dataset for orders, medications and flowsheet concepts
- Perform other tasks as required by the Manager
- Manage internal stakeholder relationships through clear and concise communication and reporting.
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in life science/Clinical background
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience, healthcare experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of standardized clinical terminology sets such as SNOMED, LOINC, and medication orders preferred
- Good Computer literacy including MS word and Excel (basic functions and formulas)
- Understanding of (or desire and ability to learn) EMRs
- Knowledge of HL7, is a strong plus
- Must possess strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to influence others to achieve desired results
- Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing and relationship development
- Basic project management skills and the desire to become more effective help towards project success.
