Name of the Post – Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Name of the Project – “Understanding adult-larval association of caddisflies (Insecta: Trichoptera) from Central and Eastern Himalayas of India based on morphology and DNA sequences”

Place of Posting – Zoological Survey of India, HQ, Kolkata

Duration – Initially up to one year, may be extended for a further period(s) based on satisfactory performance of individual and funding.

Interested and eligible candidates are requested to send the duly filled application by email to [email protected] on or before 8th February 2022 for the 01 posts of Junior Research Fellow in the project entitled “Understanding adult-larval association of caddisflies (Insecta: Trichoptera) from Central and Eastern

Himalayas of India based on morphology and DNA sequences” at the Zoological Survey of India, Head Qtrs., ‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053, West Bengal, India.

Date & Place of Interview – Online mode, the link will be sent to the selected candidates for attending the interview to be conducted virtually through video conferencing, through short notice.

General Instructions

  1. The above post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
  2. The upper age limit shall not be more than 28 years as of 08th February 2022. The age limit may be relaxed as per Government of India rules and regulations).
  3. Candidates should email the duly filled-in application with attested scan copies of testimonials of qualifications, experience, date of birth etc. along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations.
  4. The original certificates and other credentials will be verified at the time of joining and at the time of the verification of original documents (even after selection), if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, such applicant will not be considered for selection and due action will be implemented.
  5. The offer of appointment to the candidates will be on a purely contractual basis for one year and may be terminated any time if not found suitable.
  6. The selected candidate needs to join immediately or at a short notice.

  8. The Director, Zoological Survey of India reserves the right to selection or rejection of any
    candidature and cancellation of the interview.

Fellowship – Rs. 31000/- + HRA*

*Fellowship will be as per the SERB rules and regulations. For NON-CSIR/UGC NET/JRF/GATE/ICAR, ICMR etc. candidates the fellowship will be@ Rs. 25000/- + HRA.

Educational Qualifications – M. Sc. in Zoology/ Entomology/ Life Sciences/or equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualifications – Relevant Research experience in taxonomy, systematics, zoology, field survey, aquatic insect collection, field photography, molecular biology techniques- DNA isolation, PCR, Phylogenetic analyses, bioinformatics.
