Life Sciences Laboratory Assistant at Shiv Nadar University

Purpose of the role

Provide support to the Team Leader, faculty and students in managing and running the Centre of Excellence in Epigenetics laboratory and ensuring smooth functioning of the laboratory instruments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Coordinate with the faculty/faculty-in-charge on daily basis.
2. Facilitate smooth functioning of the instruments.
3. Prepare buffers and solutions, analyse samples, and maintain logbook on daily basis.
4. Maintain cleanliness and manage the lab efficiently.
5. Attract external users for the data collection on a payment basis and generate revenue.
6. Should be aware of the equipment basics required for any experiment with prior consultation.
7. Prepare and manage an inventory in the lab.
8. Arrange for the repair of malfunctioning equipment as soon as possible.
9. Manage stocks of consumables and non-consumables required for lab and make purchase requests.
10. Services: Needs to arrange/manage instrument visits for repair/calibration from time to time in consultation with the faculty/faculty-in-charge.
11. Any other lab-related work assigned by the Team Leader

Qualifications – B.Sc. / MSc in Life Sciences or allied subjects with minimum 3 years post-degree work experience.

• Laboratory management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate across a variety of demographics
• Ability to exercise good judgment and work with minimal supervision
• Basic biochemistry knowledge for buffer preparation and running gels
• Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks and execute them timely
• Maintaining records and logs.
