Engagement of Project Personnel for the Project “Conservation Status, Habitat
evaluation and Conflicts of Sloth bear in Palkot Wildlife Sanctuary, Jharkhand”

The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun welcomes application for engagement of the
following Project Personnel in the Project “Conservation Status, Habitat evaluation and Conflicts of Sloth bear in Palkot Wildlife Sanctuary, Jharkhand” totally on contractual basis for a duration of 6 months.

The project intends to assess the status and distribution of sloth bears and evaluation of
sloth bear habitats in Palkot WS and the Human-Sloth bear Conflicts in and around the Sanctuary in order to develop plans for habitat improvement and monitoring high conflict areas to reduce conflicts.

The EQ, DQ and various other details of the Project Personnel are listed below:

Post I

Position: Project Assistant

No of Posts: 02

Duration: 6

months.

Location of Project sites: HQ and at a field site in Jharkhand

Age: Not exceeding 35 years as of the date of interview. The upper age limit in the case of applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories may be relaxed as per the rules.


Post II

Position: Project Intern

No of Posts: 03

Duration: 6 months.

Location of Project sites: HQ and at a field site in Jharkhand

Age: Not exceeding 30 years as of the date of interview. The upper age limit in the case of applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories may be relaxed as per the rules.

How to Apply:

Mode of Selection and various other conditions:

  1. The selection of the candidates will certainly be in accordance with the performance in the interview and in order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee. All original documents should be produced at the time of the interview. The decision of the Institute’s Committee in all matters relating to eligibility, work experience, acceptance or rejection of the application will be final and binding on the applicants and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any kind of individual.
  2. The applicants are needed to submit their completed application in PDF format, with accompanying attachments (proof of research experience, publications etc.), by email (with the subject line: “Application for the post of Project Assistant/ Project Intern in Project “Conservation Status, Habitat evaluation and Conflicts of Sloth bear in Palkot Wildlife Sanctuary, Jharkhand” to [email protected] not later than 1700 hrs on 12th April 2021:
  3. The application needs to be typed according to the prescribed format and needs to be accompanied by (a) Scanned copies of educational qualifications, and (b) Scanned copies of experience letter/ certificate, failing which applications will certainly not be taken into consideration.
  4. The applications received after the deadline will be rejected by the Institute.
  5. The shortlisted applicants will be notified (through email and website notification) for an online personal interview by 15th April 2021. The online interview will certainly be held on 19th April 2021 from 1000 hrs onwards.
  6. At the time of verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has been made by the candidate to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be taken into consideration.
  7. The positions advertised are totally short-term/ contractual for the project period.

  8. The tenure in the project will be governed by the Institute’s guidelines and regulations.
  9. Relaxation in Age will be given based on the Govt. of India norms.
  10. After the announcement of the results, the applicant should join the project immediately.
  11. The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any kind of candidature in view of incomplete info provided by the candidate or for any other reason thereof.

For Post I

Essential Qualification:

  • Post Graduate Degree in Zoology/ Botany.
  • Six months of field research experience (proof to be submitted together with application).

Desirable Qualification: Proven capabilities of data analysis, writing skills.

Work Description: Fieldwork pertaining to sloth bear distribution and population assessment, habitat evaluation and investigation on Human-Sloth bear conflicts in Palkot WS. Development of habitat management plan and conflict reduction strategies. Data analysis, report writing and associated activities.

Emoluments: Rs 20,000/- month plus HRA as applicable.


For Post II

Essential Qualification: Graduate Degree in Biological Sciences.

Desirable Qualification: Knowledge/ experience in field research.

Work Description: Help Project Personnel in fieldwork pertaining to sloth bear distribution and population assessment, habitat evaluation and Human-Sloth bear conflicts in Palkot WS. Data entry, assistance in data analysis, report writing and associated activities.

Emoluments: Rs 10,000/- month (Consolidated).
