Applications are invited for Full-time Ph. D. programme in Applied Biology, Biochemistry
& Biotechnology under University of Mumbai at ICMR – National Institute of
Immunohaematology, Parel, Mumbai.

WHO CAN APPLY:

1. Applicants who are Indian citizen and also having Postgraduate degree (Applied Biology, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology.) with a minimum of 60% or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from higher secondary (10 +2) onwards for General, OBC and also #EWS category and also 55% for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities (PWD) applicants in aggregate (or equal grade). In case CGP A is not based upon a 10 point scale candidate should provide a statement issued by the respective University indicating conversion of CGPA to percentage. Candidates, who have appeared in the academic year 2019-2020 and outcomes are awaited, are also eligible to apply. However, such applicants will need to submit proof of qualifying marks before joining the Institute. Kindly note that registration for the PhD degree at Mumbai University will happen only after fulfilling the eligibility criteria of Mumbai University.AND ALSO
2. The applicants should have cleared a minimum of one of the following examinations.
   EitherPhD entrance test (PET) conducted by the University of Mumbai in the subjects of
   Applied Biology/ Biochemistry/ Life Sciences/Molecular Biology.OR

   CSIR-UGC NET (JRF or LS) or GATE (Life Sciences/ Biotechnology) or JRF examination conducted by national agencies such as ICMR/DBT or SET (Life Sciences/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry) or Valid DST-Inspire fellowship

   OR

Please note:
# EWS (Economically Weaker Section) openings are tentative and subject to further direction/clarification of GOI and also are subject to the outcome of any type of litigation pending in the court of law. The candidates seeking reservation under EWS should fulfil the criteria as prescribed by the Government of India. The benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon production of an Income and also Asset Certification issued by a Competent Authority.

AGE LIMIT:

The upper age limit is 28 years as of 28th February 2021 for the General as well as EWS Category. Age relaxation of up to 5 years (33 years) for SC/ST/ PWD/Women applicants and as much as 3 years (31 years) for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) applicants will certainly be granted. Reservation will certainly be based on the UGC guidelines followed by the University of Mumbai.

HOW TO APPLY:

The application form available at the NIIH web site (www.nirrh.org.in) ought to be duly filled and sent online on or prior to 31 st March 2021. A hard copy of the application need not be submitted to the Institute. Only duly filled up online applications will be taken into consideration.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

The names of the short-listed candidates along with the date and time for the interview will certainly be displayed on the NIIH and also the ICMR website.

FELLOWSHIP:

The chosen candidates, who have actually passed the JRF exam conducted by CSIR/UGC/ICMR/ DBT can avail of fellowship as per the guidelines of the respective financing agency.
