Terms and Conditions

1. The above- mentioned vacancies are for a fixed tenure of one year (12 months) or till continuation of funding by DHR, Govt. of India.
2. The selection needs to not be deemed as employment at AIIMS Rishikesh. Employment will automatically end upon the completion of the 1 year (12 months) from the day of joining of duties as well as there is no liability for permanent employment on AIIMS, Rishikesh, or principal investigator. Post I

Name of the Post: Research Scientist II (Non-medical) (will certainly be taken into consideration if Research Scientist II- Medical is not selected/no applicant found suitable).

Stipend: Rs. 70,000/-

Essential Qualifications: PhD in Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Virology/Veterinary laboratory discipline( Microbiology, virology, biotechnology).
or
First-class master’s degree( M.Sc./ M.Tech) in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or life sciences with the relevant subjects from a recognized university with a minimum of five (05) years of research experience in the pertinent subject after 1st class master’s degree.
or
2nd class M. Sc. + PhD degree in relevant subject [Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Virology/Veterinary laboratory discipline( Microbiology, virology, biotechnology)] from a recognized university (with total 5 years’ research experience inclusive of PhD duration).

Desirable Qualification:

i. PhD candidates with research thesis work on infectious diseases supported by a minimum of 3 original research publications in PUBMED indexed journals will be given preferences.
ii. Any Post -doctoral research/ past experience in Viral infectious disease diagnosis, epidemiological studies will be given preference.
iii. Working experience in NGS with demonstrable knowledge backed up by publications will certainly be given high priority.
iv. Working experience of tissue culture/virus harvesting/cell line maintenance/ viral gene expression study/ genetic basis of viral pathogenesis/ viral diagnostic genetic marker is desirable.
v. Knowledge of Computer Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Sequence phylogenetic analysis software, Business Intelligence tools, Data Management).
vi. Working knowledge of molecular bioinformatics tools like Bio edit, BLAST, Primer and also Probe designing, phylogenetic analysis, and sequence.
vii. Demonstrable writing skills (manuscript, scientific write-up, summary writing of events, etc.) are most welcome.

Job description:

1. Real-time assessment of any kind of viral outbreak if occur in Uttarakhand & adjoining areas.
2. Coordination with state health personal in control measurement of any type of viral outbreak.
3. Guaranteeing the proper sample collection and its transportation by health workers in case of laboratory investigation of any viral outbreak in Uttarakhand.
4. Routine diagnosis of all viral infections whose facilities are offered in VRDL.
5. Conducting training and workshops for Medical colleges of Uttarakhand.
6. Writing of any significant lab work for publication in reputed journals.
7. Participating in research projects sanctioned.
8. Writing new research projects and working on it.
9. Completion of any other work assigned by PI as well as Co-PI for the smooth functioning of VRDL.
10. Supervision as well as management of other staff employed in VRDL.

Post II

Name of the Post: Research Scientist I (Non-Medical)

Stipend: Rs. 60,000/-

Essential Qualifications: 1st class Master’s degree in pertinent subject [Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Virology/Veterinary laboratory discipline( Microbiology, virology, biotechnology)] from a recognized as well as well-known university (e.g. INI, Central University etc.) with two (02) years of research experience in the relevant subject.

Or

Second class M. Sc. + PhD degree in the pertinent subject from a recognized as well as well-known university.

Desirable Qualification:

• Additional Post-doctoral research/training experience in viral outbreak diagnosis as evidenced by scientific publication.
• Expertise in Molecular diagnostic methods– Conventional PCR, Gel run, Real-time PCR is most desirable.
• Knowledge/exposure to sequencing technology (both capillary and also NGS) is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Computer Applications & data management.
• Writing skill (scientific write up).
