Application Procedure for CIAB Vacancy:

The interested candidates may send their filled-in application form (available on institute’s web site) in addition to self-attested photocopies of relevant education, experience, caste (if suitable) certificates by e-mail only to: [email protected] latest by 15th September 2020. Only shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview with video-conferencing mode.

The procedure of Engagement for CIAB Vacancy

:

The applications received will certainly be screened by a committee for shortlisting the candidates for interview. The eligible applicants would certainly be interviewed by a duly constituted committee with video-conferencing mode The committee would certainly recommend the applicants, if found suitable, for consideration of the competent authority for engagement on totally on Fellowship/Stipendiary basis. Provisions of registration for PhD exist at Universities/Institutes having MoU with CIAB based on scholar’s tangible performance, promise, academic suitability, etc.

General Conditions for CIAB Vacancy:

1. Incomplete applications and applications which aren’t in an appropriate format may be rejected.
2. The above-mentioned search opportunities are available only to Indian Nationals.
3. Candidates applying for more than one position should submit separate applications for each position.

Important Instructions for CIAB Vacancy:

• The applications should be submitted in the format which may be downloaded in the CIAB site: www.ciab.res.in.
• Completed applications together with photocopies of all of the applicable educational, experience and caste (is applicable) certificates should be sent by e-mail only to: [email protected] latest by 15th September 2020.
• Please note that no hard copy of the application is needed at this stage
• All of the positions are based at Mohali, Punjab but a few functions could be delegated to be performed in outstations also.
• The number of positions may vary.
• Relaxation of age for various categories (like woman candidates) will be according to rules of DST and other Government of India agencies.
• If in almost any area no acceptable candidate is located, no selection would be made in that case.
• Candidates found eligible after scrutiny of applications shall have to appear before a Selection Committee through video-conferencing mode. Kindly note that if there are a substantial amount of candidates, the Chief Executive Officer, CIAB reserves the right to devise such standards as deemed fit to shortlist the candidates for your interview. The decision of the CEO, CIAB to conduct a written exam shall be binding and final all in this regard.

(A) JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS (WITH OWN FELLOWSHIP)

1. Junior Research Fellow – One position

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 28 Years

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: As per the fellowship awarding agency.

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy:

(i) M.Sc (Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Microbial Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Microbiology) from a recognized University / Institute OR M.E./M.Tech in Biotechnology from a recognized University / Institute and

(ii) having their own fellowship granted by CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST/ICAR/ICMR or other funding agencies.

2. Junior Research Fellow (Chemical / Nano / Material Science) – Two Positions

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 28 Years

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: As per the fellowship awarding agency.

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy:

(i) Master’s Degree in Biological Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering from a recognized University / Institute and

(ii) having their own fellowship granted by CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST/ICAR/ICMR or other funding agencies.

3. Junior Research Fellow (Chemical Engineering/Biotechnology) – Three Positions

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 28 Years

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: As per the fellowship awarding agency.

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy:

(i) M.Sc (Biotechnology, Food Technology/ Microbial Technology/Life Sciences/Biology/Botany/Zoology/Biotechnology/Food Sciences) from a recognized University/Institute OR B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech (Biochemical Engineering/ Biotechnology/ Bioengineering/ Bioprocess Engineering/ Food Technology) from a recognized University / Institute and

(ii) having their own fellowship granted by CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST/ICAR/ICMR or other funding agencies.

Note: Those appearing in the last year of Master’s exam as well as have been conferred fellowship from any one of the above-mentioned agencies, might additionally be taken into consideration. Nonetheless, if chosen, they will certainly be required to provide proof of degree completion (provisional/original) as well as Fellowship Award Certification before joining.

(B) FELLOWSHIPS FUNDED BY CIAB FOR INTERNAL R&D PROJECTS/ACTIVITIES

1. Research Associate-I (Biotechnology/Synthetic Biology) – One position

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 35 Years

Tenure for CIAB Vacancy: One Year, extendable (post-evaluation) for subsequent years subject to satisfactory progress, institutional needs as well as financial provisions.

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: Rs. 47,000/- each month + (HRA as admissible or Hostel facility, if available).

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy:

1. Ph.D# in Biotechnology/Microbial Biotechnology/Molecular Biology from a recognized
   University/Institute having at least one research paper (preferably as the First Author) in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
   OR
2. M.E./M. Tech in Biotechnology from a recognized University/Institute with three years’ research experience and having at least one research paper (preferably as the First Author) in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.

2. Research Associate-I (Chemical Engineering) – One position

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 35 Years

2. M.E./M.Tech. in Biochemical Engg.,/Biotechnology/ Food Technology with three years’ experience in industry/research/teaching and having at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.

Desired Experience: Biomass Valorisation/Agro-Bioprocessing / Process Engineering.

# The candidates who have sent PhD thesis will likewise be eligible for the position of Research Associate, but they would certainly be treated as SRF and also will be paid emoluments as applicable to SRF (Rs. 35,000/- + HRA) till successful completion of PhD thesis viva.

(C) FELLOWSHIPS UNDER EXTERNALLY FUNDED PROJECTS AT CIAB, MOHALI

1. Junior Research Fellow – One position

Project Title: “BRICS technology platform for integrated bioprocessing of agricultural residues for ecosustainable production of biofuels and by-products”

Funded By: Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of India)

Principal Investigator: Dr Sudesh Kumar, Scientist-F, CIAB

Duration of the project: Up to 01-05-2022

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 28 Years

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: Rs. 31,000/- + (HRA as admissible) per month for initial 2 years

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy:

(i) M.Sc. in Life Sciences (Biology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology) or Food Science & Technology from a recognized University / Institute OR B.E. / B. Tech. / M.E. / M. Tech. (Biotechnology / any other biological subject /Food Science & Technology) from a recognized university/institute.

Project Title: “Development of water soluble curcuminoids powder for use as a health additive”

Funded By: Punjab State Biotech Corporation, Mohali.

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy:

(i) M.Sc. in Food Science from a recognized University / Institute OR M. Tech. in Food Technology and

(ii) NET / GATE / any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified.

Project Title: “Production of D-allulose, a functional ingredient, for development of low-calorie food products”

Funded By: Punjab State Biotech Corporation, Mohali.

Duration of the project: Six months

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 28 Years

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: Rs. 31,000/- + HRA as per DST norms.

Project Title: “Extraction of starch from potato processing waste and transformation into resistant starch molecules”.
