Applications are invited on-line for the following posts under DBT funded research projects at ICARIndian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode, Kerala. The positions are of temporary nature as well as co-terminus with the project. The eligible candidates are requested to submit their application online (www.spices.res.in/jobs/) along with a scanned copy of the required documents on or before 30.06.2020. After the screening of applications, the shortlisted applicants will be informed via e-mail to attend the interview either in-person/online. The original documents of the candidates appearing interview will certainly be verified at the time of interview/joining.

- The above position is purely on a temporary basis and is for the period as mentioned in the respective projects.
- The selected candidate will not have any right for claiming pay scale or absorption against any regular post being vacant on a later date at this Institute.
- No TA/DA will certainly be paid for attending the Interview.
- Canvassing in any form will lead to cancellation of candidature.
- The decision of Director, ICAR- IISR would be last and binding in all aspects.
- Applicants that secure the minimum marks prescribed by the Institute on screening of application only will be eligible for attending the interview. The number of applicants to be called for the interview will be decided by the Director of the Institute.
- Those who do not possess the proof of Age, as well as Educational Qualifications, will not be allowed to attend the Interview.

Name of the Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Name of the Project: Integrated development of turmeric sector in North Eastern and Bundelkhand region through sustainable technological interventions for improvement of productivity, quality and post-harvest processing technology under Good Agricultural Practices and organic production systems (BT/PR32389/TRM/120/262/2019 dated 03.01.2020)
Duration: Up to 02.01.2023
Upper age limit: 35 years for men and 40 years for women as on the date of interview. Age relaxation as per Government of India rules.
Nature of Work: Work involves screening of turmeric genotypes for nutritional and quality
parameters.
Essential:
- Postgraduate degree in Biochemistry OR post graduate degree in professional courses ie. M.Sc in Biochemistry, selected through a process described any one of the following
- Scholars who are selected through the National Eligibility Test – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
- Scholars who are selected through national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions such as DST/DBT/ DAE/DOS/ DRDO/MHRD/ ICAR/ICMR/IIT/IISc/IISER etc.
Desirable: One year of research experience in plant biochemistry

Name of the Project: Characterization of endogenous and episomal pararetroviruses in black pepper (BT/PR15202/BPA/118/156/2015dated 28-03-2018)
Duration: Up to 27th March 2021
Upper age limit: 35 years for men and 40 years for women as on the date of interview. Age relaxation as per Government of India rules.
Nature of Work: Work involves isolation of DNA and RNA from plants, PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, invitro expression of protein, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, immunocapture
PCR.
Essential:
- M.Sc in Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology / M.Tech in Biotechnology/Molecular
Biology / M.Sc (Agri) in Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/Plant Pathology / M.Sc
in Virology, selected through a process described any one of the following - Scholars who are selected through the National Eligibility Test – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
