Application Procedure for CIAB Vacancy:

The interested candidates may send their filled-in application form (available on institute’s web site) in addition to self-attested photocopies of relevant education, experience, caste (if suitable) certificates latest by 15th July 2020. Only shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview with video-conferencing mode.

The procedure of Engagement for CIAB Vacancy:

The applications received will certainly be screened by a committee for shortlisting the candidates for interview. The eligible applicants would certainly be interviewed by a duly constituted committee with video-conferencing mode The committee would certainly recommend the applicants, if found suitable, for consideration of the competent authority for engagement on totally on Fellowship/Stipendiary basis. Provisions of registration for PhD exist at Universities/Institutes having MoU with CIAB based on scholar’s tangible performance, promise, academic suitability, etc.

General Conditions for CIAB Vacancy:

  1. Incomplete applications and applications which aren’t in an appropriate format may be rejected.
  2. The above-mentioned search opportunities are available only to Indian Nationals.
  3. Candidates applying for more than one position should submit separate applications for each position.

Important Instructions for CIAB Vacancy:

  • The applications should be submitted in the format which may be downloaded in the CIAB site: www.ciab.res.in.
  • Completed applications together with photocopies of all of the applicable educational, experience and caste (is applicable) certificates should be sent to Administrative Officer, Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB), Sector-81 (Knowledge City), Manauli P.O., S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali – 140306, Punjab super-scribing “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF _____________” on the envelope, latest by 15th July 2020.
  • All of the positions are based at Mohali, Punjab but a few functions could be delegated to be performed in outstations also.
  • The number of positions may vary.
  • Relaxation of age for various categories (like woman candidates) will be according to rules of DST and other Government of India agencies.
  • If in almost any area no acceptable candidate is located, no selection would be made in that case.
  • Candidates found eligible after scrutiny of applications shall have to appear before a Selection Committee through video-conferencing mode. Kindly note that if there are a substantial amount of candidates, the Chief Executive Officer, CIAB reserves the right to devise such standards as deemed fit to shortlist the candidates for your interview. The decision of the CEO, CIAB to conduct a written exam shall be binding and final all in this regard.

(A) FELLOWSHIPS UNDER EXTERNALLY FUNDED PROJECTS AT CIAB, MOHALI

1. Junior Research Fellow – One position

Project Title: “BRICS technology platform for integrated bioprocessing of agricultural residues for ecosustainable production of biofuels and by-products”

Funded By: Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of India)

Principal Investigator: Dr Sudesh Kumar, Scientist-F, CIAB

Duration of the project: Up to 01-05-2022

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 28 Years

Tenure for CIAB Vacancy: Initially one year, renewable for the subsequent years based upon satisfactory performance but in no case beyond 3 years or cessation of operation and/or funding of the project by the project funding agency, whichever is earlier.

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: Rs. 31,000/- + (16% HRA or Hostel Facility, if available) per month for initial 2 years

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy:

  1. M.Sc. in Life Sciences (Biology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/ Microbiology) or Chemistry
    ( General/ Organic/ Inorganic/ Physical/ Others) or Food Science & Technology from a recognized University / Institute OR B.E./ B. Tech./ M.E./ M. Tech. (Biotechnology/ any other biological subject/ Chemical Engineering/ any other chemical subject/ Food Science & Technology) from a recognized university/institute and
  2. NET/ GATE/ any other appropriate comparable nature of test qualified.

2. Project Fellow – One position

Project Title: “Complete utilization of whey for the production of whey protein hydrolysate, bacterial cellulose and tagatose for various food applications”

Funded By: LSRB, Govt. of India

Principal Investigator: Dr Sudesh Kumar

Duration of the project: Up to 25-02-2021

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 28 Years

Tenure for CIAB Vacancy: Upto day of completion of the project.

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: Rs. 16,000/- each month (Fixed).

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy: M. Sc. in Life Sciences (Biology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology) from a recognized university/institute with minimum 55% marks.


3. Research Associate – One position

Project Title: “Agro-biomass derived lignin based low-cost water-resistant, self-cleaning nano films”.

Funded By: Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of India)

Principal Investigator: Dr Jayeeta Bhaumik, Scientist-D, CIAB

Duration of the project: Two Years

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 35 Years

Tenure for CIAB Vacancy: Initially one year, renewable for the subsequent years based upon satisfactory performance but in no case beyond 3 years or cessation of operation and/or funding of the project by the project funding agency, whichever is earlier.

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: Rs. 16,000/- each month (Fixed).

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy: PhD (Chemical Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Pharmaceutical Technology or related areas) from a recognized University/Institute with at the very least two first author research publications in Science Citation Index (SCI) journal.

Desired Experience for CIAB Vacancy: Biomass valorization, nanotechnology, product development (such as filming/coating).


4. Project Fellow – One position

Project Title: “Agro-biomass derived lignin based low-cost water-resistant, self-cleaning nano films”.

Funded By: Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of India)

Principal Investigator: Dr Jayeeta Bhaumik, Scientist-D, CIAB

Duration of the project: Two Years

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 28 Years

Tenure for CIAB Vacancy: Initially one year, renewable for the subsequent years based upon satisfactory performance but in no case beyond 3 years or cessation of operation and/or funding of the project by the project funding agency, whichever is earlier.

* Students appearing/appeared in last year examination can make an application for the post of Project Fellow (at Sr. No. 4) subject to production of degree completion certification at the time of joining.

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: Rs. 25,000/- each month (Fixed).

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy: M.Sc. (Chemistry) or M. Tech./ B. Tech. (Chemical Engineering/Biotechnology/Biochemical Engineering/Food Technology) from a recognized University/Institute.

Desired Experience for CIAB Vacancy: Biomass valorization, nanotechnology, product development (such as filming/coating).


(B) FELLOWSHIPS FUNDED BY CIAB FOR INTERNAL R&D PROJECTS/ACTIVITIES

1. Senior Research Fellow (Biotechnology/Molecular Biology) – One position

Age limit for CIAB Vacancy: 32 Years

Tenure for CIAB Vacancy: One Year, extendable on yearly basis for subsequent years subject to satisfactory progress, institutional needs as well as financial provisions.

Fellowship for CIAB Vacancy: Rs. 35,000/- monthly + (16% HRA as admissible or Hostel facility, if available)

Qualifications for CIAB Vacancy:

  1. M.Sc. in Life Sciences (Biology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/ Microbiology) from a recognized University/ Institute OR B.E./ B. Tech./ M.E./ M. Tech. (Biotechnology/ any other biological subject) from a recognized University/Institute.
  2. NET/ GATE/ any other relevant equivalent nature of test qualified.
  3. Two years’ of research experience.
