Wildlife Crime Control Bureau is a statutory multi-disciplinary body established by the Government of India under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, & Climate Change, to combat organized wildlife crime in the Nation. The Bureau has its headquarter in New Delhi; five regional offices at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Jabalpur; three sub-regional offices at Guwahati, Amritsar and Cochin; along with five border units at Ramanathapuram, Gorakhpur, Motihari, Nathula and More. Under Section 38 (Z) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, it’s mandated to collect and collate intelligence associated with organized wildlife crime activities and also to disseminate the exact same to State and other enforcement agencies for immediate action in order to apprehend the criminals; to set a centralized wildlife crime data bank; coordinate actions by several agencies in relation to the enforcement of the

provisions of Act; help foreign authorities and international organization concerned to facilitate coordination and universal actions for wildlife crime control; capacity building of the wildlife crime enforcement agencies for scientific and professional investigation into wildlife crimes and advise that the Government of India on issues regarding wildlife crimes having national and international ramifications, relevant laws and policy. Additionally, it helps and advises the Customs authorities in the inspection of the consignment of fauna & flora according to the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, CITES and EXIM Policy governing such an item. Internship at Wildlife Crime Control Bureau provides an excellent opportunity for students/researches to familiarize with numerous issues associated with wildlife and also the functioning of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau. Under the internship programme, the intern shall have an orientation session on the organization and would be assigned specific areas of work. They shall report to and work under the close supervision of the Head of Department. The nature of work may be to collect & consolidate data on wildlife crimes or carry out any other task entrusted to them under the directions of the Head of Department.

Eligibility:

A. Students pursuing graduation/post graduation/Diploma in any of these subjects.
1. Any subject related to Wildlife Management/Conservation/Protection.
2. Zoology
3. Botany
4. Law
B. The applicant shouldn’t be in a regular job either in Public/Private Sector.
C. The applicant shouldn’t be over 30 years old.
D. The applicant must be an Indian Citizen.

Duration: The internship shall be for a minimum duration of 1 month to a maximum of six months. In deserving cases, the duration can be further extended by the Additional Director.

Certification of Internship:

A. A certificate will be issued by the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau to intern on

  1. Satisfactory completion of this internship
  2. Submission of a report on completion of the internship.

How to Apply:

  1. Interested students can apply only in the format given in Annexure.
  2. The application must contain the recommendation of the Head of Institute in official letterhead from the academic institution in which the candidate is pursuing his/her studies.
  3. The Application in the prescribed format complete in all respects may be sent by post of reach-The Additional Director, Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, 2nd floor, Trikoot-I, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi-110066.
  4. Envelope carrying application ought to be superscribed “Application for Internship for Month/Year”.
  5. The Application should reach this office 5 weeks prior to the proposed date of commencement of this internship.

Check List:

  1. Duty Filled Application Form.
  2. Copy of self-attested two proof of identity one being Aadhar Card.
  3. Curriculum Vitae.
  4. Recommendation letter of the Head of Institution in official Letterhead.
  5. Self-attested certificates of educational qualifications etc., cited in the application form.

Selection Process:

  1. The application received will be scrutinized by the Selection Committee and the selected candidate will be intimated accordingly. The composition of the Selection Committee shall be determined by the Additional Director.
  2. While picking the candidates for the internship the selection committee will provide due importance to the academic performance of the applicant.
  3. The meeting of the selection committee will be held twice annually.
  4. The decision of the Selection Committee shall be binding and final and no queries in this regard will be entertained.
  5. The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau’s Headquarters is a Delhi and its five Regional offices are located at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata & Jabalpur and subregional offices at Cochin & Guwahati. The intern may be attached to any of those offices.

Terms and conditions of engagement:

  1. No remuneration will be paid to the intern for their internship in Wildlife Crime Control Bureau.
  2. The intern will have to undertake the activity as directed by the concerned Regional Deputy Director in the respective Regional Offices or by the Additional Director in the case of Bureau Headquarters.
  3. WCCB may terminate the internship of an intern at any point without giving any reasons as it deems fit.
  4. The intern Won’t be authorized to utilize the data collected/information gained During their internship in the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau in any academic Publication/research project without the prior approval of the Additional Director.
  5. The intern Will Need to sign an undertaking regarding non-disclosure of Information to any other authority which comes to their own knowledge during the Course of the internship.
  6. Joining or finishing the internship programme form Wildlife Crime Control Bureau isn’t an assurance for a job in the organization.
