Scholarship opportunities:

The PhD degree in science instruction provides candidates

opportunities to tackle detailed explorations of current research and theory in science learning and teaching across the range of formal and formal instruction. The successful candidate will promote the study of the Institute for Science Education and Communication and into the instruction in various graduate programs (e.g., Master’s in Science Education and Communication), based upon their interests and experiences.

The successful candidate will focus on a research study of the interest linked to the project’Students’ science identities and out-of-school science’, which concentrates on research related to pupils’ science identities and investigates the function of out-of-school configurations in forming their identities. Research in these areas includes, but isn’t limited to, subjects associated with science individuality like, career aspirations, individuality discussions, life histories and individuality trajectories, equitable science, diversifying science, sex problems, out-of-school sciencescience communication etc..

Qualification:

Educational history along with a recently completed master’s level in any of the following areas:

  • Educational sciences, Science education, Natural sciences, Science communication, or a related discipline
  • proficiency in research methods from the social sciences quantitative or qualitative
  • demonstrated outstanding oral and written English skills
  • excellent communication and cooperation abilities
  • eagerness to function in an interdisciplinary and worldwide environment
  • Dutch proficiency isn’t a necessity but it’s going to be regarded an advantage.

Requirements:

The PhD student will be registered in the PhD Scholarship Programme and get a scholarship of $ 2,099 a month (gross) in the University of Groningen for a span of four decades. The student PhD student will take part in the Graduate School of Science training program for PhD students and will draw up a private training and oversight plan with her or his manager. A Career Perspectives curriculum is part of this coaching, which aims to prepare students to their (academic or non-academic) professions after the PhD trajectory.
