Admission to (A) Full-time PhD program under Institute Research Scholar (with fellowship), (B) Full-time Research Scholar with financial support from Government/ Semi-Government / other organizations (with fellowship), (C) Full-time Research Scholar selected in Externally Funded Sponsored Projects in the Institute and (D) Sponsored Research Scholar from Government / Semi-Government / Other Highly Reputed Organizations.
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for Admission to PhD program 2017-18, Odd Semester under the following categories:
A. Institute Research Scholar (Full-time with fellowship) – Seat Matrix:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :
Above eligibility is minimum requirement only. Good academic career and higher qualification will be preferred.
However, mere eligibility shall not ensure a call for admission test and/or viva voce.
The maximum age during admission to the PhD program under categories A, B and C shall be 28 years with relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/FEMALE Candidates.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Fellowship as per the present norms of MHRD, Government of India (vide letter no. F.17-2/2014-TS.I dated March 02, 2015) shall be available to all selected Institute sponsored PhD research scholars, depending on qualification.
SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR PhD PROGRAMMES
A screening of applications will be made and only the short-listed candidates will be called for admission test and/or viva voce. All shortlisted candidates shall appear for the admission test. There shall be a further screening after the admission test. During the selection process, 30% weightage will be given on percentage of Marks / CGPA obtained in the qualifying examinations, 40% weightage will be given on written admission test, and 30% weightage will be given on viva-voce to be carried out in respective departments at NIT Durgapur. Candidates need to mention CGPA-Percentage conversion
as awarded by their University/Institute and produce relevant document (submit under any other document) of such conversion. The admission committee of the respective department is fully responsible for selection and their decision is final in the admission process. Queries, if any, should be directed to respective departments.
HOSTEL
This is a residential institute. Each and every student shall be required to reside in Hostels that will be made available to the full time PhD students. However, no married accommodation will be provided in the campus. Further, no house rent allowance will be admissible to the students.
FEES
Fee structure for PhD programme will be uploaded in the institute website in due course of time.

Application Fee : Rs 1500/- (Rs 1000/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates) to be paid online during the application process.
On submission of application online, the print version of the application form must be sent (without any documents attached) through Speed Post only so as to reach NIT Durgapur by June 30, 2017. The envelope containing the application should be superscribed “Application for PhD Programme (Odd Semester, 2017-18) in the Department of ___________________________________ under the category of A/B/C/D (Specify whichever is applicable)”.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST (to be uploaded online)
(i) Scanned copy of marks sheet / Grade card of the secondary, higher secondary board and other university examinations
(ii) Scanned copy of the certificate / provisional certificate of the last qualifying examination
(iii) Scanned copy of proof of date of birth
(iv) Scanned copy of community certificate (SC/ST) from a competent authority as per the format given in the website, if applicable
(v) Scanned copy of community certificate in case of OBC candidates from a competent authority as per the format given in the website (as mentioned above in (iv)) indicating the status regarding creamy layer, issued on or after 01/04/2017.
(vi) Scanned copy of Person With Disability (PWD) certificate from a competent authority as per the format given in the website, if applicable
(vii) Scanned copy of No Objection Certificate from the Principle Investigator as per the format given in the website (for the candidates of externally sponsored projects)
(viii) Scanned copy OF Sponsorship Certificate from the present employer as per the format given (for sponsored candidates). The employer should also indicate that the candidate will not be withdrawn midway till the completion of the programme.
(ix) Scanned copy of relevant document showing CGPA-Percentage of marks conversion as followed in the qualifying degree awarding University / Institute.
(x) Scanned copy of Undertaking form for Result Awaited candidates.
(xi) Any other relevant document
No admit card will be issued. All announcements related to M Tech admission will be made through the Institute website (nitdgpphdadmission2017.in). No communication will be made to any individual separately.
The candidates must bring the original mark sheets and certificates along with them during the admission test
