Government of Russia Federation has announced “On Scholarship Program for Degree Studies at St. Petersburg University SPbU”, and offering educational opportunities including scholarship for foreign students and inviting applications from Indian nationals to pursue degree courses at St. Petersburg State University, Russia.
On Scholarship Program for Degree Studies at St. Petersburg University SPbU
St. Petersbµrg University (SPbU) with the aim to contribute to the openness and equitable access to education is seeking to provide information on study opportunities for young people of outstanding talent’, namely on application cc1ll 2017 for Russian Federation’s government-funded places.
The Government of the Russian Federation is ready to provide foreign nationals with an opportunity to be awarded a scholarship to pursue degree at SPbU corresponding to their level of previous education.
Foreign nationals worldwide, stateless citizens and compatriots residing abroad are eligible to apply for the one of 300 available government-funded places for entry to degree programs. Successful applicants are guaranteed tuition fee waiving, place in SPbU dormitory and monthly maintenance allowance in the amount equal to national scholarship for native students regardless of academic performance.
The applications can
be submitted on-line and are considered based on motivation letter and essay as well as academic merit and non-academic achievements.Prior to the enrollment to SPbU, the Unfversity forwards the’list of preliminary selected applicants to the Mirristry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for approval, i.e. issuing Ministry’s Referral Letter, and for ensuring further visa support. i.e. issuing a letter of invitation.

Admission procedure for International Applicants 2017
International applicants can be admitted to SPbU both to places on a fee-paying (contractual) basis and to places funded by the Russian Government (Scholarship includes tuition fee and academic scholarship).
Contractual basis
From 1st of April till 8th of July
Step 1. Submit an application to educational program (programs) you have chosen. Signet application with other documents candidates could submit:
a) Attach in the Personal Account at the web-site https://cabinet.spbu.ru/Account/LogON
b) By person
c) By post
Step 2. Pass the required admissions tests: https://abiturient.spbu.ru/list-and-forms-ofadmissions-tests.html
TORFL is obligatory for programs taught in Russian.
Step 3. If you are successful at the admissions tests, sign a contract with St. Petersburg
University.
Please mind that all foreign documents of education should be:
1. Legalized in the stated order;
2. Translated into Russian (could be done on arrival)
3. Notarized by the Russian notary (could be done on arrival)
Russian Government Scholarship
From 1st of February till 15th of June
• Covers the cost of tuition.
• Provides academic scholarship.
• Gives reduced prices for dormitory stay.

Step 2. Attach in the Person Account all documents required for Portfolio competition (including essay on the stated topics and motivation letter): https://abiturient.spbu.ru/admission-procedure-ino.html
List of documents required
- an application form for an educational program
- an educational certificate/diploma
- a questionnaire – competition application form
- a copy of the identity documents
- a medical certificate on absence of restrictions against studying in the Russian Federation
- a medical certificate on the absence of the HIV virus and AIDS
- a motivation letter
- an essay
- 4 (four) photographs 3х4 cm
Step 3. Applicants who have successfully passed the competitive selection are recommended for enrolment to Saint-Petersburg State University.
