The Government of Republic of Korea has announced “2018 Korean Government
Scholarship Program (KGSP) for Graduate Degrees”. Online applications are invited from the Indian nationals which is available at URL  http://proposal.sakshat.ac.in/scholarship. The scholarship is tenable from 1st September 2018 to study at 64 Universities or Institution as designated by National Institute for International Education (NIIED).

Award : 8 candidates would be awarded scholarship. Final selection will be done by the Government of Republic of Korea.

Level of course : (i) Master’s, (ii) Doctoral and (iii) Research Programme

Subjects Field:

  • Korean Language
  • International Relations (including Korean Studies)
  • Bio-Technology
  • Electronic Engineering

Eligibility:

Age :

(a) Applicants applying for Master’s/Doctoral Programme must be under 40 years of age as of September 01st, 2018 (born after September 1st, 1978)

(b) Applicant who is working as a professor must be under 45 years of age as of September 01st, 2018 (born after September 1st, 1973)

Qualification

:

(i) For Master’s Programme : Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree as of August 31st, 2018.

(ii) For Doctoral Programme : Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree as of August 31st, 2018.

(ii) For Research Programme :

(a) Postdoctoral Research Programe : Applicants must hold a Doctoral Degree, or a diploma equivalent to a Doctoral degree.

(b) Professor Exchange Programe : Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree, or a diploma equivalent to or higher than a Master’s degree.

  • Required Percentage : Minimum eligibility is 65% or more for the Bio-technology and Electrical Engineering
  • Equivalent foreign degree will be considered.
  • Note: Candidates who have completed a Bachelor’s , Master’s or Doctoral degree in Korea are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have already been abroad for study/research/training for more than 6 months at a time either on a scholarship or on their own, are eligible to apply only if they have been in India for at least two years after their return from abroad as of 09.03.2018.
  • Applications of candidates who are abroad shall not be considered.
  • Those who have withdrawn from the scholarship after being selected for KGSP scholarship in the previous years are not eligible to apply.

Period Of Scholarship:

Master’s Degree Program : 3 Years (September 1st, 2018 – August 31st, 2021)
One Year Korean Language Program
Two Year Degree Program

Doctoral Degree Program : 4 Years (September 1st, 2018 – August 31st, 2021)
One Year Korean Language Program
Three Year Degree Program

Research Program : 6 months (September 1st, 2018 – February 28th, 2019)

  • Airfare : Payment for round-trip economy class ticket will be made by NIIED, Government of Korea.
  • Value of Scholarship :(i) Settlement Allowance; 200,000 KRW
    (ii) Monthly Allowance
    (a) Degree Program (Master’s or Doctoral) : 900,000 KRW
    (b) Research Program : 1,500,000 KRW
    (iii) Research Allowance
    (a) Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Degree : 210,000 KRW per semester
    (b) Science, Technology & Engineering Degree : 240,000 KRW per semester(iv) Language Training Fees : Fully covered(v) Degree Tuition : Fully covered

    (a) Tuition up to 5 million KRW is covered by NIIED, and the amount that exceeds 5          million is covered by the host university.
    (b) The KGSP scholars are waived from the admission fees of the universities.

    (vi) Dissertation Printing Fee Reimbursement:

    (a) The actual cost of printing as written on the receipt will be reimbursed.
    (b) The maximum amount is 500,000 KRW for degrees in Liberal Arts and Social                Sciences and 800,000 KRW for degrees in Science, Technology & Engineering.

(vii) Medical Insurance : 20,000 KRW per month

(viii) Korean Proficiency Grants : 100,000 KRW per month.

This special funding is available for KGSP scholars with levels 5 and 6 on TOPIK

(ix) Scholarship Completion Grants : 200,000 KRW

(a) It is offered for the KGSP scholars who return to their home countries after                        completing their degree coursework under the scholarship.
(b) It is not offered on KGSP scholars who decide to stay in Korea after the                            completion of their degree coursework.

Documents Required:

  • Scanned copy of the following documents need to be uploaded at the time of online application at http://proposal.sakshat.ac.in/scholarship
  • Marks sheet and certificate for Secondary Examination.
  • Marks sheet and certificate for Higher Secondary Examination.
  • Transcript in respect of the candidate’s higher qualification(s)
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctoral degree or equivalent.

Note: Candidates are required to obtain transcript from their University/Institution

Candidates, shortlisted for interview, are required to bring the following documents at the time of interview

  • Original Certificates along with mark sheets of Class X, XII & Transcripts and degree (if awarded) in respect of their higher qualification(s)
  • NOC / Cadre clearance (in case of Government servant)
  • Candidates must provide write-up of his/her plan of study in at least (a) 500 to 1000 words for Master’s Programme (b) 1000 to 2000 words for Doctoral and Research Programme.
  • Korean or English Language Proficiency Certificate, if any: It is an optional document and you may apply for KGSP without it. However, Embassy of Republic of Korea in New Delhi or some universities do require the language proficiency certificate.

Preference for Universities: Candidates are required to give preference for three universities of study in their application form.

Supporting Statement from Supervisor :

At least two letter of recommendation are required. The candidate are advised that they ask their professors and academic advisors for such letter. However, universities may ask for more letters of recommendation, the letters of recommendation are required at the time of interview.

Nomination and Final Selection:

  • Only short listed candidates will be called for interview and the Selection Committee consisting of subject experts will interview the candidates. Based on merit, the nomination would be made. The nomination will be sent to the Government of Republic of Korea.
  • Note: The decision of selection committee shall be final & no representation in this regard will be considered.
  • Nomination of candidate by the Government of India does not, in any way, guarantee the final selection or placement. The Government of Republic of Korea will make the final selection.

Note:

  • Candidates are also required to fulfill the terms and conditions laid by the
    Government of Korea.
  • A candidate can apply only in one subject and one of the degree courses.
  • Candidates who do not possess the essential qualifications need not apply.
  • Employed candidates must obtain ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer. In case of Government servant, cadre clearance is a must. The same is required to submitted at the time of interview.
  • The applicant in employment (to which he/she wishes to return) should have an assurance from his/her employer that he/she will be granted sufficient leave if he/she is awarded this scholarship during study period in Korea.
  • Canvassing in any form & suppression of any fact in the application will disqualify the candidature of the applicant.
  • All information regarding the date of interview of short listed applicants will be made available on MHRD’s website i.e., www.mhrd.gov.in/scholarships
  • All communications to short listed applicants will be made on their registered email.

  1. Is the given four fields the only fields available? NO options for Architecture major?

  2. Sir is there any abroad scholarship for PHD in agriculture biotechnology without GRE and TOFEL exam qualification.
