Applications are invited upto 3rd April 2017 for one post of Scientist ‘C’ (Immunology) at
the ICMR’s National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Chennai in the Pay Band
PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs. 6600/- (pre-revised VI CPC) and other usual allowances as admissible as per Government norms.
Position 1
Post Name : Scientist ‘C’ (Immunology) (1 post)
Essential Qualification :
First class Master’s degree in Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology from a
recognized University with 4 years R&D/teaching experience in the relevant subject after
1st Class Master’s Degree
or
Second class M.Sc. + Ph.D degree in Immunology/Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology from a
recognized University with 4 years R&D/teaching experience in the relevant subject after
M.Sc. + Ph.D.
Desirable Qualification:
(i) Doctorate in Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or MD/DM in
Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology from a recognized university for candidates
with first class in relevant Masters’ degree.
(ii) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in Immunology/
Biotechnology/Molecular Biology in recognized institute(s)
(iii) Knowledge of Computer Applications / Data Management.
Job Requirements:
The candidate will be required to participate in the ongoing research projects in
Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology of the department
to initiate newer research studies in the areas of pathogenesis, immunology and/or molecular genetics of mycobacteria.
Notes:
1. Candidates with Post Graduate Degree in Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular
Biology/Doctorate Degree in Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology shall be
recruited as Scientist ‘C’ after requisite training under Talent Search Scheme as per
Schedule-IV.
2. MD/Ph.D. in Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology shall be treated equivalent to
three years experience.
3. Postgraduate Diploma in Immunology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology shall be treated
equivalent to two years experience.
Age limit:
Not exceeding 40 years. Relaxable upto 5 years for Government servants and
SC/ST/OBC candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of
Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard. However, the prescribed age may be
relaxed in exceptional cases for experienced and qualified candidates.
One time age relaxation is also allowed to Scientific and Technical staff working in long
term projects in ICMR Institutes/Centres for posts advertised under HRSC, 2007 provided they meet essential qualifications and experience for the post with a view to provide them opportunity to compete with other candidates as per Council’s letter No. 6/1/2007-Admn.II dated 28.3.2011.
General Relaxation clause : Age, qualification and experience will be relaxable in deserving cases as mentioned in the Recruitment Rules of Health Research Scientists cadre of ICMR, 2007 under Rule 14 and Notes 1 & 2 of Schedule III
Other Service Conditions:
(1) Pay Band PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs. 6600/- (minimum pay Rs. 18,750/-
+ Grade Pay Rs. 6600/-) (pre-revised VI CPC)
(2) Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above pay scale.
(3) Benefits of new restructured defined contributory Pension system are admissible as
per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic
Affairs (ECD & PR Division), Notification No.5/7/2003-ECD & PR dated
22.12.2003 effective from 1.1.2004.
(4) Private practice is not allowed. However, non-practicing allowance is admissible to
medical graduates only as per rules.
(5) Applications from employees working in Central/State Govt. Departments/Public
Sector Undertakings and Govt. funded research agencies must be forwarded through
proper channel. Advance copies of application with all necessary documents will be
considered subject to the conditions that a “No Objection Certificate” from the
employer is produced at the time of personal discussion. Application received after
the closing date will not be considered. Candidates called for personal
discussion/interview have the option to answer in Hindi also.

(2) Application forms duly completed in all respects and signed by the applicant should be
sent to the Director, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (Formerly
Tuberculosis Research Centre), No.1, Mayor Sathyamoorthy Road, Chetput, Chennai – 600031 on or before the closing date (03.04.2017).
(3) Documents to be enclosed with the application form (copies attested by Gazetted
Officer): –
a) Proof of Date of Birth (SSC Board Certificate)
b) Educational qualifications (Degree, Diploma, certificate courses and
copies of all mark sheets for all the years)
c) Experience (proof for all experiences mentioned in the application)
d) List of publications
e) Crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) or Demand Draft from a nationalized bank for Rs.500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) payable to the Director, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Chennai. SC/ST/women and physically handicapped candidates (PH) are exempted from the application fee. IPOs/DDs are payable by all other candidates
including ICMR employees.
(4) Unsigned/Incomplete application or application without supportive evidence asked
for/without postal order/demand draft and application received late shall be
summarily rejected.
NOTE:
1) Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal discussion,
the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of the Director General, ICMR
will be final in this regard.
2) Candidates called for interview will be paid 2nd class rail fare by the shortest route on
production of documents.
3) Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside
influence with regard to selection/recruitment shall be treated as disqualification.
4) These posts are with all India transfer liability under the Council.
