INNO INDIGO Postdoctoral Position on “Novel Cancer Therapeutics”

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. Apart from the various approaches of treatment, cancer chemotherapy is one of the major therapeutic approaches to combat cancer. Over the years, many chemotherapeutic agents with various cancer inhibition mechanisms have been developed and applied clinically, especially in neoadjuvant, adjuvant and metastatic therapy settings. However, improvements in the survival rate have been only modest. Today, there is a significant clinical need for novel methods of detection and treatment for cancer that offers improved sensitivity, specificity and cost-effectiveness.

Our laboratory (eNARM Lab, PI: Jyotsnendu Giri) at IIT Hyderabad works at the interface of drug delivery, materials engineering and biology to develop next-generation approaches in chemotherapy treatment.

We are seeking for talented, motivated and passionate individuals to join in our efforts for leadingedge research on “Combinational therapy against breast and colorectal cancer ”. The candidate will get highly interdisciplinary work environment to perform cutting age research. As this INNO INDIGO project is an internationally collaborative project (Belgium, Norway and India) postdoctoral fellow will closely work with collaborators from the European Countries and will have opportunity to visit to Belgium/Norway to accomplish the project work. Candidate need

to spend time in the European partner laboratory up to 6 months.

Essential Qualification and Work Experience:

PhD in Biotechnology, Life Science, any other related discipline from reputed institute with strong experience and publication record on cancer biology, cancer chemotherapeutics (optional) and related work.

  • Experience on cancer cells culture, different assay, therapeutic efficacy (in vitro and in vivo) using small molecules or nanoformulation (optional), molecular mechanism of cellular transport and signaling pathways
  • Experience on Cancer Stem Cells culture and maintenance prefer (not mandatory).
  • Sound knowledge and interest on cancer biology, proficient in molecular biological techniques such as quantitative PCR; RTPRC, ELISA, Western Blotting and immunoassay etc.

Duration of project: Three years. The appointment will be on temporary basis for a period of one year. Based on performance in the first year, the appointment could be extended till the end of project.

Emoluments: Rs. 40,000 to 55,000 pm based on the candidate qualification and experience.
