Only a science graduate will now be able to set up shop to sell pesticides or insecticides in any part of India. Over one lakh existing retailers or dealers have been given some concession and they will have to abide by the new rule by employing a qualified person to continue their business. The government has notified insecticides amended rules, making it mandatory for new retailers to possess a minimum graduate degree in agriculture science or biochemistry or biotechnology or life science or graduation with either chemistry or botany or zoology .
While this comes as a win – win situation for both the sides Only time can tell if this is efficiently implemented at all Pesticide Outlets or not.
Our Point of View: While we welcome this move by the government, we would also like to request that Govt should also try to explore more avenues, where these grads can be utilized in Nation building and contribute to our ever growing economy.
BioSciences has huge Potential and every Bio Professional out there is ready to dedicate himself / herself to the Nation’s Progress, But they must be rewarded the right remuneration and conditions to grow in their career.
