IISER-K Summer Student Research Programme 2016
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER-K), Kolkata is designed to reach the prestigious position in the global setting that IISc, IIMs and IITs presently enjoy. The central theme of the IISER Kolkata is to integrate education with research so that undergraduate teaching as well as doctoral and postdoctoral research work could be carried out in symbiosis. IISERs are devoted to both teaching and research in an integrated manner – thus nurturing both curiosity and creativity. The institute is providing a supportive research environment in which faculty members and research students can flourish and develop in every stage of their career & are encouraging collaboration and partnership with other research institutes and industries, nationally and internationally.
Objective
To provide B.Sc., M.Sc., B.S., M.S., B.Tech., and B.E. students of institutions or universities across India an opportunity of exposure to a research environment by associating them with one of the research groups of IISER during the summer vacation.
Salient Points
- The duration of summer research programme of IISER-K is from 18th May to 15th July, 2016.
- All interested candidates must register through this online portal.
- Each selected candidate will be formally associated with a faculty member of the Institute.
- On-campus accommodation will be provided to every selected candidate.
- Access to computational and library facilities will be provided.
- A participation certificate will be awarded at the end of the programme.
Financial Support
Students having KVPY/INSPIRE or any other summer research fellowship, and those selected under the Indian Academy of Sciences summer fellowship programme will receive financial support from the respective sponsoring organization. There is a provision for a limited number of IISER-K summer research fellowships, the details of which will be notified in due time.
Requirements
- Staying in campus accommodation throughout the period of visit is mandatory unless the research work requires travelling.
- Selected candidates must abide by the rules and regulations applicable to the regular students of IISER-K.
- Submission of a final work report is must for the award of completion certificate.
- You may select maximum two faculty members in order of your preference in the application form.

- Publication of first list of selected candidates: 11 April 2016
- Last date of receiving confirmation from selected candidates: 15 April 2016
- Publication of second list (if any) of selected candidates: 20 April 2016
- Summer research programme begins: 18 May 2016
- Summer research programme ends: 15 July 2016
