Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position at BITS Pilani
Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Biological Sciences at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, Goa for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) sponsored research project titled:
“CHIKV SANKALP: Building a Self-reliant Antiviral, Nanovaccine, and Replicon-based Knowledge Platform for India’s Laboratory Preparedness against Chikungunya Virus” (ANRF/ECRG/2025/002221/LS).
Principal Investigator
Aryamav Pattnaik, BVSc & AH, PhD
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in research related to Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV) Vaccine Development.
- Contribute to Drug Development studies.
- Work on Host-CHIKV Interaction research.
- Assist in project activities under the ANRF-funded research initiative.
- Support laboratory experiments, data analysis, and research documentation.
Qualifications
- M.E./M.Tech, MVSc, M.Sc. in Biotechnology/Life Science/Virology/Immunology or allied disciplines from a recognized University/Institute or equivalent.
- Candidates with a valid score in:
- DBT-JRF/BET
- CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship)
- DST-INSPIRE
- ICAR-JRF
- GATE
Experience
- Research experience in Biotechnology, Virology, Immunology, Life Sciences, or related disciplines will be beneficial.
- Candidates may submit a curriculum vitae detailing research experience and publications.
Skills Needed
- Knowledge of Biotechnology and Life Science research methodologies.
- Understanding of Virology and Immunology concepts.
- Laboratory research and experimental skills.
- Scientific data analysis and documentation.
- Research communication and publication skills.
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary research projects.
Fellowship Details
Fellowship Amount
- For candidates fulfilling qualification criteria (a) and (b)
- Rs. 37,000/- per month + HRA for the first two years.
- Rs. 42,000/- per month + HRA for the third year.
- For candidates fulfilling the qualification criterion (a) but not (b)
- Rs. 30,000/- per month + HRA for the first two years.
- Rs. 33,000/- per month + HRA for the third year.

Accommodation
Hostel accommodation will be provided subject to availability and will be governed by the rules and regulations of the Institute prevailing at the time of joining. Research fellows residing in the hostel will not be entitled to HRA.
