Program Overview
The PhD-II-2026 program is designed for highly motivated candidates from diverse academic backgrounds. Selected candidates will engage in interdisciplinary research and may register under the Ph.D. program of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB).
Based on the research project or laboratory, candidates may also get an opportunity to participate in field immersion programs.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
Educational Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Science, Technology, or Agriculture OR MBBS from a recognized institution
- Candidates awaiting final results are also eligible to apply
Fellowship Requirement (Mandatory):
- Must have qualified for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from: CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR / INSPIRE / UGC-RGNF or similar
- Candidates with only Project-JRF (ICMR), DBT Category-II, or LS-NET are not eligible
Important Fellowship Note:
- Valid fellowship is mandatory at the time of joining
- Candidates awaiting fellowship results must update status before interviews
- Only candidates with proof of valid fellowship will be shortlisted for interviews
Selection Process
The selection process consists of two stages:
- Round 1: Online interview (mid-May 2026)
- Round 2: In-person interview at CDFD (mid-June 2026)
Shortlist Updates:
- First round shortlist: By May 11, 2026
- Second round shortlist: Next day after first round interviews
