Amity Research Fellowships (ARF) For full-time Ph.D Programmes

Fellowship stipend of Rs. 37,000/month (Rs. 4.44 lakhs/year)

Introduction:

Admissions to Ph.D. programs at Amity University campuses are conducted twice a year, for January and July sessions. A Ph.D. program is offered in two modes- Full time and Part time and not in a distance learning mode. Hence, coursework, participation in various interactions, submission of progress reports through presentations etc. on regular basis is mandatory during the program. A Full-time Ph.D. scholar shall mean a candidate devoting full time for completing the requirements of the program and a part-time Ph.D. scholar shall mean a candidate who is devoting a part of his time towards the pursuit of the program while discharging his official / employment obligations. Ph.D. full time is for minimum 3 years and Ph.D. part time for minimum 3.5 years. Maximum duration in case of both the modes is 6 years.

Part time Candidates should

ensure they have adequate facilities/ required infrastructural set up at their work- place which is conducive to research. Also, there will be a requirement to have a Co-guide from your origination. External Co-Guide will however be appointed only after his/her profile is approved by the university authorities.

Amity encourages interdisciplinary research and exchange of ideas and knowledge in various related fields. Consequently, scholars may appoint a Co-Guide from outside Amity University, as per university rules. The main Guide for the scholar during the Ph.D. program will be from Amity University, appointed as per the research topic and Guide availability. Ph.D. Full time enthusiasts have the scope to work as research fellows in the various ongoing prestigious research projects in the university.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission:

Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Program, whether full time or part time, shall have to possess requisite percentage of marks / grade point average in qualifying examination as indicated below:

• The required minimum qualification for admission to a Ph.D Program is a) Master’s from a recognised Indian or Foreign University/ Institute in the relevant field with minimum 55% marks or Equivalent CGPA OR b) A four years Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised Indian or Foreign University/ Institute in the relevant field with minimum 75% marks or Equivalent CGPA
• Applicants who have successfully completed their first year degree course (Undergraduate course) by 04/June/1986, irrespective of the duration, shall be treated at par with those who have completed a three year first degree course. Those who hold a two year first degree and had enrolled for this course after 04/June/1986, will be required to undergo a further one year bridge course. UGC notification dated 17/August/2015
• Applicants with Chartered Accountancy (CA) Qualification from ‘The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’ (ICAI)/ Cost and Works Accountancy of ICWAI/ Company Secretary of ICSI with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade may be considered eligible for admission to Ph.D. Programs in the relevant field.
• Foreign/ NRI applicants / Applicants with a Masters’ degree from a foreign university must apply with an equivalence certificate of AIU along with the Online Application Form.

Exemption from PhD Entrance Test/Written Test

Only those candidates who have successfully cleared in the relevant field an All India National Level Competitive Examination like NET of UGC / CSIR / ICAR (ASRB), ICAR-AICE-JRF/SRF (PhD) / GPAT / ICMR / GATE / DST – INSPIRE within the last 2 years* of the PhD session (Jan or July) they are applying in at Amity Noida, shall be exempted from the written test of the Ph.D. Selection Process and they will be required to appear for the Interview round only. For consideration of exemption they must timely submit scanned copy of the issued certificate (and not score card) along with the application form or later via mail but not later than two days prior to the PET date. Exempted Candidates will receive a message of exemption on their admission microsite/ admit card prior to PET and those who do not receive such a message will be required to appear for PET (Ph.D. Entrance Test).

Amity Research Fellowships Selection Process

• Written Test and Interview for the PhD program (NET-JRF are exempt from the written test)
• Qualifying candidates will be Interviewed again for Amity Research Fellowships

Amity Research Fellowships Eligibility

• Master’s from an accredited Indian or Foreign University in the relevant field with minimum 55% marks or Equivalent CGPA OR a four years Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Indian or Foreign University in the relevant field with minimum 75% marks or Equivalent CGPA
• Maximum age of 28 years when applying

Important Information:

• Amity Research Fellowship is only for Full Time PhD Scholars
• Amity Research Fellowship recipients will be required to do Academic Duty of 8 hours a week (excluding their research work) as a Teaching Assistant (TA)
