Research Fellow (Temporary) and Laboratory Assistant (Temporary) Positions Available in the NTRF-Sponsored Project

Applications are invited for the posts Research Fellow (four positions) and Laboratory Assistant (one position) under the following National Tea Research Foundation (NTRF) sponsored projects-

1. Evaluation of an RNA interference strategy to eliminate pesticides tolerance in the tea mosquito bug (Helopeltis theivora): A novel and advanced insecticide resistance management (IRM) approach. Project code: NTRF:222/2024
2. Isolation and Molecular characterization of diverse fusarium strains causing, die-back disease of tea in Assam and utilization of antagonist microbes for their effective management. Project code: NTRF:221/2024
3. In-vitro insect cell line establishment and culture process optimization for the replication of Nucleo polyhedrovirus (NPV) for the development of bio pesticides against Hyposidra talaca, a major tea pest. Project code: NTRF:220/2024

The positions are to be posted at Tocklai Tea Research Institute, Tea Research Association, Jorhat-785008, Assam as per the following details. The appointments will be purely on a temporary contractual basis and hence the Institute will not provide any employment after completion of the

project.

Project Duration: 3 years only.

1 Research Fellow

Upper Age Limit: 35 years

No. of Posts: 4 (Four)

Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Life Science/Entomology/Microbiology/ Biotechnology Mycology & Plant pathology

Desirable Qualifications and Experience: Research experience in the relevant field.

Monthly Fellowship: Rs.20,000 + 8% HRA per month for the first and second year and Rs. 22,000 + 8% HRA in the third year.

Job Responsibility: Project-related research work. The candidate will have the responsibility of fieldwork, bench work on fungal/virus/insect culture, and molecular biology experiments. Candidate will also get the opportunity to register for a higher degree (subject to attainment of the required qualification).

2 Laboratory Assistant

Upper Age Limit: 30 years

No. of Posts: 1 (One)

Essential Qualification: Graduation (Science) from a recognized university.

Desirable Qualification and Experience: BSc. in Zoology/Biotechnology/Microbiology. Experience in the related field.

Monthly Fellowship: 15,000 per month + 8% HRA

Job Responsibility: Fieldwork, cell line maintenance, DNA/RNA extraction.

General Instructions:

1. The above posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

4. Candidates interested to apply in more than one project must submit an individual application against each project.
5. Only shortlisted candidate will be called for interview. No TA/DA or any other expenses will be provided for attending the interview.
6. Shortlisted candidates must carry a set of photocopies of documents (testimonials of qualifications, mark sheets, experience, date of birth, etc.) along with originals for verification.
7. All other terms and conditions of appointment will be governed by prevailing Institute rules and the decision of the Chairman of the Selection Committee will be final and binding.
8. Selected candidates need to join immediately or at very short notice.
9. The Director, Tocklai Tea Research Institute, Jorhat, Assam reserves all rights of selection or rejection of a candidature including cancellation of the interview without assigning any reason thereof.
