RECRUITMENT FOR PROJECT POSITIONS

NCCS is an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. It is at the forefront of basic research in diverse areas of cell biology. The contributions made by scientists of NCCS have gained worldwide recognition.

NCCS invites online applications from Indian nationals possessing an excellent academic record and relevant work experience for the following positions on the Project entitled
“Establishment of Centre of Excellence for National Centre for Microbial Resource” (NCMR)
purely on a temporary basis till the end of the project i.e. up to September 30, 2022.

Post I 

Name of the Post – Scientist ‘C’

Scale of Pay/ Consolidated Pay – PB-3 Rs. 15600-39100 + 6600/- Grade

Upper Age Limit – 40 years

Essential Qualification & Experience

  • 1st Class or equivalent in M. Tech/M. D./M. V. Sc/M. Pharm/M. Sc. with 5 years experience in R&D or Ph.D. with original work as evidenced by patents or publications. Evidence of leadership with about 4 years of experience in R&D.

Desirable Experience

  1. Extensive experience in microbial ecology and taxonomy as evidenced by publications.
  2. Work experience in handling, maintenance and preservation of microbial culture.
  3. Work experience in culture collection and familiarity with SOPs involved in large scale
    handling and storage of cultures.
  4. Work experience in the identification and characterisation of microbial cultures using DNA sequencing and/or biochemical methods and related analysis.

Post II

Upper Age Limit – 35 years

Essential Qualification & Experience

  • 1st Class in M. Sc./M. Tech/M. D./M. V. Sc/M. Pharm with 3 years experience in R&D or
    Ph.D. in relevant field with 1-year post-doctoral experience.

Desirable Experience

  1. Work experience in handling, maintenance and preservation of microbial cultures.
  2. Work experience in identification and characterisation of microbial cultures using DNA
    sequencing and/or biochemical methods and related analysis.
  3. Work experience in culture collection and familiarity with SOPs involved in large scale
    handling and storage of fungal cultures.

OR

  1. Work experience in the identification and characterization of fungal cultures and fungal
    taxonomy.
  2. Work experience in handling, maintenance and preservation of fungal cultures.
  3. Work experience in culture collection and familiarity with SOPs involved in large scale
    handling and storage of fungal cultures.

OR

  1. Proven ability to interact with stakeholders for the promotion of science and scientific
    services.
  2. Maintaining and operating social networking site( s) related to dissemination of scientific
    information specifically in the areas of Biotechnology / Microbiology
  3. Conducting science outreach programs/events targeted at students/common man.
  4. Good communication skills as evidenced by writing popular science articles/blogs related
    to Biotechnology/Microbiology.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  3. Recent passport size photographs and photocopies of relevant certificates, and other testimonials in support of age, qualification, experience etc. as mentioned below, may be scanned and attached with the application format which is enclosed below the advertisement.
  4. There should be a single PDF file of all documents including the prescribed application format.
  5. In the email, the applicant must attach all self-attested scanned certificates in support of
    date of Birth, Educational Qualifications (Secondary School Certificate onwards), Work
    Experience ( on respective letterheads wherever they have worked, signed and dated by the authorized person), Details of the Exams passed (Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary School Certificate (10+2), Graduate degree, post-graduate degree, Ph.D., and other if any), Caste Certificate if any. A direct contact number should be included in the applications.
  6. The experience mentioned should have been gathered after the acquisition of the essential qualifications.
  7. The applications will be summarily rejected in absence of these certificates or any
    requested information, wherever applicable. There will not be any further communication
    in this regard from us.
  8. A list of shortlisted candidates for the interview selection process with details of date, time will be put up on the institute website below this advertisement and candidates will be informed by e-mail only.   9. An application that is incomplete and/or not in the prescribed format will be strictly
    rejected.
  10. In case if shortlisted for interview and upon successful selection, the applicant must bring all the original certificates in support of date of Birth, Educational Qualifications, Work Experience, Details of the Exams passed (Secondary School Certificate onwards), Caste Certificate, if any and other relevant documents, at the time of joining for the purpose of verification, along with one set of photocopies. An Offer letter would be valid subject to verification of your certificates with the original documents only, within one month of the issue of the Offer letter. The duration of the offer will be determined based on fund availability.
  11. The Director, NCCS reserves the right to enhance/reduce the number of posts and also
    cancel the recruitment process.
  12. The upper age limit will be considered as on the last date of application. Age relaxation of 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates will be given as per Government of India rules. Physically handicapped (Divyangs) candidates shall get relaxation in age as per DoPT OM No. 15012/2/2010-Estt. (D) dated 27.03.2012.
  13. Reservation as per Govt. of India norms will be followed.
  14. SC/ST/OBC candidates must produce proof of their caste certificate from the appropriate
    authority. In addition, OBC candidates must also produce the latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate in the prescribed form for claiming the reservation benefits.
  15. As per DoPT O.M. No. 36039/1/2019-Estt.(Res.) dated 31st Jan 2019, the benefit of
    reservation under Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) can be availed upon production
    of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority as per the format
    prescribed by the Govt. of India. Candidates who are not covered under the scheme of
    reservation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) and whose family has gross annual income below Rs
    8.00 Lakh (Rupees eight lakh only) are to be identified as EWS for benefit of reservation
    for EWS. The income shall also include income from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture,
    business, profession etc. for the financial year prior to the year of application.
    • The benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority. The Income and Asset Certificate
    issued by any one of the following authorities shall only be accepted as candidate’s claim
    as belonging to EWS:
    a) District Magistrate I Additional District Magistrate/ Collector I Deputy Commissioner I
    Additional Deputy Commissioner / 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate / Sub-Divisional
    Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate I Executive Magistrate/ Extra Assistant Commissioner.
    b) Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency
    Magistrate.
    c) Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar and
    d) Sub-Divisional Officer or the area where the candidate and/or his family normally
    resides.
    • The EWS candidates are advised to note that in case of appointment, the same is
    provisional and is subject to the Income and asset certificate being verified through the
    proper channels and if the verification reveals that the claim to belong to EWS is fake/false the services will be terminated without assigning any further reasons and without prejudice to such further action as may be taken under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code for
    production of fake/false certificates.
    • The appointing authority will verify the veracity of the Income and asset certificate
    submitted by the candidate through the certificate issuing authority.
  16. The prescribed educational qualifications and experience are the bare minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for an online interview. The Centre reserves the right to call for online interviews only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable.
  17. Where number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large & it will
    not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates, based on the
    recommendations of the screening committee, the project investigator may restrict the number of candidates to be called for the interview to a reasonable limit after taking into
    consideration of qualifications and desirable experience over and above the minimum
    prescribed, in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying. No interim enquiries/correspondence/communication of any sort will be entertained on this matter.
  18. The above-advertised positions are filled up purely on a temporary basis for the limited time period on the project. The position will automatically co-terminus on the completion of the project tenure. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/ absorption in the funding agency or in NCCS/NCMR, Pune.
  19. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence will be treated as a disqualification for the post.
  20. The posts advertised shall be need-based without any commitment for its filling.
  21. Candidates working in Government Departments/Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous Bodies should produce a No objection certificate from their employer with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of receipt of appointment order if selected.
  22. No TA/DA will be paid to applicants for attending the interview.
  23. Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of an offer of appointment
    letter.
