Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of One Research Associate-III, Two Junior Research Fellow/Project Associate-I, and one Skilled labor in the DBT Multi-institutional project “Characterization of chickpea germplasm resource to accelerate genomics-assisted crop improvement”, under mission programme of “Characterization of genetic resources” under the supervision of Dr. Senthil-Kumar Muthappa, Scientist, NIPGR.

Upper Age Limit: 35 years.

How to Apply:

The above positions are totally on a temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship amount for the above positions is as sanctioned in the project. The initial appointment will certainly be for one year or till the

tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and also experience of the applicant. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment can be terminated whenever by giving one-month notification by either side. The candidates will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any kind of regular position of NIPGR.

For Post I

Essential Qualification: Candidates having a Ph.D. degree in the discipline of life science with at least 55% (or equivalent) with a minimum of three years research experience after a Ph.D. in the areas mentioned in this advertisement with strong publication record (at least one research paper in SCI journal) are eligible to apply. The work involves the establishment of a facility for screening chickpea germplasm for dry root rot disease, imaging/disease scoring in laboratory, greenhouse and field conditions. The candidate must have the ability to handle these requirements. Additional experience of working with abiotic stress in crop plants is preferred.

Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project.


For Post II

Essential Qualification: Candidates having a Master’s degree in life sciences/bio-informatics/statistics with at least 55% (or equivalent) marks in master degree are eligible to apply. Experience in data analysis, handling simulation/prediction tools and image-based plant disease assessment are requirements. Some part of the project work will also involve using GWAS, SNP analysis, QTL mapping & gene discovery.

Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project.
