Subject: Extension of Fellowship support to Final Year PhD students of DBT Autonomous Institutions
The Department of Biotechnology considering the impact COVID 19 on planned research work of final year PhD students, has approved extension of tenure of the fellowship of the final year PhD students of DBT Autonomous Institutions for a period of up to six months with 50% Fellowship to complete the research work originally planned and suffered due to COVID 19 pandemic.
2. The extension is applicable to Fellows working under PhD Program of DBT Autonomous
Institutions which were completed/will be completing the fellowship tenure during 1st April, 2021 to 30th September, 2021. This will be a one-time measure and no fm1her extension beyond the six months will be considered. Fellowship will be provided at 50% of existing rates during the extension period.
3. This extension will allow the PhD students to complete the research work that was originally planned and suffered due to COVID 19 pandemic. The
fellowship amount will be paid from Core Grant of Autonomous Institutions for the Financial Year 2021-22 and expenditure will be got ratified by all the Autonomous Institutions in forthcoming Finance Committee and Governing Body/BOG meetings.4. This would be applicable for PhD students drawing fellowship from the Core grant of the DBT Autonomous Institutions.
5. This issues with the approval of Secretary. Department of Biotechnology vide e-note dated 10.06.2021.
