Advertisement for engaging Project Associate – I on Contractual basis at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun

Position: Project Associate-I

No of Posts: 01

Name of the Project: “Ecology and Conservation Perspectives of Fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) in EGREE, Andhra Pradesh”

Duration: One year which can be extended based on the candidate’s performance and the needs of the project.

Age: 35 years.

General Conditions:

Mode of Selection and various other conditions:

  1. The selection of the candidates will certainly be in accordance with the performance in the interview as well as in the order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee. All original documents must be produced at the time of the interview. The decision of the Institute’s Committee in all matters associating with eligibility, work experience, acceptance or rejection of the application will certainly be final as well as binding on the candidates and also no enquiry or correspondence will certainly be entertained from any kind of individual.
  2. The applicants are required to send their completed application forms in PDF format, with accompanying attachments, by email with the subject line: “Application for the post of Project Associate-I in Fishing Cat Project”) to [email protected] not later than 1700 hrs on 30th July 2021.
  3. Application forms need to be typed according to the prescribed format and should be
    accompanied by:
    (a) Scanned copies of educational qualifications, and also
    (b) Scanned copies of experience letter/ certificate, failing which applications will not be taken into consideration.
  4. The applications received after the deadline will be rejected by the Institute.
  5. The shortlisted candidates will certainly be notified for an online personal interview. The online interview will certainly be held on 9th August 2021 from 1000 hrs onwards. The selection will certainly be made based on the online personal interview arranged on 9th August 2021.
  6. At the time of verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has actually been made by the applicant to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be considered.
  7. The settings advertised are purely temporary/ contractual for the project period only and will certainly stand abolished after the conclusion of the project.
  8. The period in the project will certainly be governed by the Institute’s rules and guidelines
  9. Relaxation in Age will certainly be given according to Govt. of India norms
  10. After the announcement of the results, the applicant needs to sign up for the project immediately.
  11. Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature because of incomplete information provided by the applicant or for any other reason thereof.

Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Botany/ Zoology/ Life Science or related field from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification:

Candidate(s) with past expertise using camera trapping and distance sampling to estimate population sizes. The hands-on experience in animal capture, tagging, and radiotelemetry favoured. GIS and GPS knowledge are desirable. Should be able to do difficult tasks. Work in the field under arduous conditions.

Work Description: The work involves understanding the ecology of the fishing cat in Andhra Pradesh. The project intends to use camera traps for population estimation and radiotelemetry to understand movement ecology and space use of the species. The project involves radio-collaring and tracking of 10 individuals during the project duration

Emoluments: Rs. 31,000 plus 16 percent HRA
