Name of the Project: Pilot project on Biodiversity Corridor-Baseline Survey and feasibility assessment.

Project Objectives:

  1. Study on habitat, population and movement ecology of large mammals in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh;
  2. To develop as well as map biological corridors of large body mammalian species in the study landscape;
  3. To access the biological diversity (vertebrate animals and also plants) of the study landscape for conservation and also management;
  4. To comprehend the socio-economic status of the local communities as well as the assess the magnitude of human-wildlife conflicts in the study landscape via field surveys;
  5. To develop conservation and also management strategy for identified biological corridors in the study landscape.

Place of Work: The chosen applicants will need to travel extensively in the Kullu and surrounding Districts of Himachal Pradesh and also may be posted for a longer duration, based on requirements or any other places based on the project requirements including HQ at Kolkata.

Application Process for ZSI Job:

  1. A virtual-interview will certainly be held for selection of applicants at ZSI, M-Block, New Alipore, Kolkata– 700053 on 29th December 2020, 10.00 AM onwards via an on-line link. The link will certainly be shared with the shortlisted candidates.
  2. For Post I

Fellowship: Rs. 47,000/- plus HRA as per rule

Essential Qualification Desirable Experience for the ZSI Job:

Qualification: Ph.D in Zoology/Life Sciences/Wildlife/Biodiversity & Conservation or equivalent.

Desirable Experience: Previous post PhD work experience of at least 3 years (3 Year) in
Himalayan Region, Knowledge & experience in carnivore ecology/ experience in the biological corridor mapping/ non-invasive DNA analysis/ climate change studies with at the very least two (2) pertinent publication in SCI journal. Proven experience in Data analysis, non-invasive genetic data analysis, GIS, GeoInformatics, Science writing as well as communication, organising workshops, seminar, symposium, training programme etc.

Age Limit: The upper age limitation is 40 years as on the last date of application submission. Age relaxation according to Govt. of India rules.


For Post II

Fellowship: Rs. 35,000/- consolidated

Essential Qualification Desirable Experience for the ZSI Job:

Qualification: M. Sc. in Zoology/Life Sciences/Wildlife/Environmental Sciences/Biodiversity & Conservation or equivalent.

Desirable Experience: Previous work experience of at the very least 3 years (3 Year) in wildlife ecology/ habitat ecology. Need to have Knowledge & experience in biological corridor mapping, geospatial studies with at the very least three (3) relevant publication in SCI journal. Proven experience in Data analysis, GIS, Science writing and also communication, organising workshops, seminar, symposium, training programme etc.

Age Limit: The upper age limit is 35 years as on the last date of application submission. Age relaxation according to Govt. of India rules.


For Post III

Fellowship: Rs. 14000/- plus HRA as per rule

Essential Qualification Desirable Experience for the ZSI Job:

Qualification: M. Sc. in Zoology/Life Sciences/Wildlife/Environmental Sciences/Biodiversity & Conservation or comparable.

Desirable Experience: Prior work experience at least 2 years (2 Year) in wildlife ecology/ habitat ecology in the Indian Himalayan Region. Must have Knowledge & experience in field ecology. Data collection and also analysis on vertebrate habitat ecology, occupancy surveys/ human-wildlife conflict surveys/ geo-informatics studies with a minimum of one (1) relevant publication in SCI journal. Proven experience in Data analysis, GIS, Science writing and communication, organising workshops, seminar, symposium, training programme etc.

Age Limit: The upper age limit is 32 years as on the last date of application submission. Age relaxation according to Govt. of India rules.


For Post IV

Fellowship: Rs. 21,000/- consolidated

Essential Qualification Desirable Experience for the ZSI Job:

Qualification: B.Sc. Biological science/Life Sciences/Environmental Sciences/Biodiversity & Conservation or equivalent.

Desirable Experience: Previous work experience in wildlife field ecology in the Indian Himalayan Region. Have to have Knowledge & experience in field sampling (camera trapping, transect surveys) as well as data collection on vertebrate habitat ecology, occupancy surveys/ human-wildlife conflict surveys. Proven experience in organising workshops, seminar, symposium, training programme etc.

Age Limit: The upper age limit is 32 years as on the last date of application submission. Age relaxation according to Govt. of India rules.
