Summer Internship for Post-graduate Students
UGC-STRIDE Integrated Resource Centre for Environment Climate Change and Biodiversity ( IRCECCB), Madurai Kamaraj University welcomes applications from budding first-year post-graduate students (from various disciplines of Life Sciences/ Sociology/ Computer Sciences) of Indian Universities/ Colleges/ Research Institutions for the forthcoming “Summer Internship Program for the focal themes on Environment, Climate change and Biodiversity” to be held from May – June 2020.
Over the past decades, the world is emerging with severe environmental issues. Globalization, Overpopulation, Urban ecosystems modifications, land-use and land change patterns, biological invasions and over-exploitation of biodiversity are the key components for such surging environmental issues. The effects of these issues have negatively impacted biodiversity and climate. Millions of individuals’ livelihoods are already getting affected nationwide because of climate change & environment
. Mitigating their impacts,training the manpower in these areas are immensely important.
This summer internship will certainly provide exposure to the concerned applicants to a series of lectures, field works, hands-on training on advanced techniques and experiments, the opportunity to performing the research work in the centre and collaborate with nationwide experts on thrust areas of climate, environment and biodiversity to address and bring logical and viable solutions for the local issues faced by the public as a result of changing climate, environment and biodiversity.
Applicants are requested to submit an application consisting of a short Curriculum Vitae, Statement of Purpose (300 words), Research Proposal (1000 words), Letter from Head of the Department to Prof. S. Chandrasekaran, Program Co-ordinator, UGC-STRIDE-IRCECCB, Department of Plant Sciences, School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai – 625 021. email: [email protected] on or prior to 30th March 2020.
Applications sent out via email are also accepted, however the duly forwarded hard copy ought to reach within a week. TA/DA (according to Madurai Kamaraj University standards) and Accommodation will certainly be given for outstation participants. The chosen candidates are provided with a fellowship of Rs. 4000 upon successfully finishing the internship program. The chosen applicants will be informed through email on or before the second week of April 2020.
