Images Of Coronavirus Captured In India For The First Time

Image of the novel coronavirus that causes the deadly Covid-19 has been captured by Indian scientists using a transmission electron microscope.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus has been isolated from the throat swab of a laboratory-confirmed case of January 30, 2020, by the ICMR-NIV scientists in Pune.

Dr. Atanu Basu, deputy director and head of the electron microscopy and pathology at the NIV and his team published the paper “Transmission electron microscopy imaging of SARS-CoV-2” in the Indian Journal of Medical Research along with the images.

The sample was taken from the Covid-19 patient who returned to Kerala from Wuhan, where she was studying medicine. The genome sequence of the virus found in the woman was 99.98% similar to the virus samples from Wuhan.

As per the latest International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) classification, the novel coronavirus is named as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-CoV-2. The study that captured the images of coronavirus says it is the most recent human pneumonia virus with high outbreak potential.

The gene sequencing data of the virus was earlier released by Chinese scientists on an open-access repository for

scientists around the world to develop test kits for the virus. On January 12, the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Centre was ordered to close for “rectification”.

Researchers at the Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza had decoded the complete genome of the SARS-CoV-2 to help scientists understand the origin and evolution of the virus and develop a vaccine. And this data was sent to the international database of the World Health Organization (WHO) so that scientists all over the world can have access to the genome data to study the evolution of the new virus.

The coronavirus pandemic has killed 34,041 so far and infected 732,153 around the globe. Countries like the US and Italy are hit the most by the virus. The number is still growing.

  1. It’s good news that took photos of COVID_19.
Early study of prevention of this virus will be done if we apply track test and treat(TTT)
