Advertisement for Admission to the Ph. D. Program in the Department of Botany, University of Calcutta. Applications are invited from interested candidates for enrolment in Ph. D. program in Botany from a qualified postgraduate student of Botany (or allied disciplines, subject to endorsement by the concerned Ph D committee).

Maximum up to 48 candidates * will be chosen on the basis of merit.
* Reservation in admission will purely follow the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions ( Reservation in Admission) Guidelines, 2013.

Eligibility & How to Apply:

Candidates are requested to download the application from the University website
( Admission notification) and also submit the filled-in application at the office of Department of Botany, CU after paying Rs. 100/- in cash to the cash counter of the College. The qualification of the candidate will be based

on UGC guidelines. The qualified candidates will need to appear in a written MCQ (on Botany) examination of 1 hour period. Prospects obtaining 50% marks (as. per UGC regulations) will be asked to appear in front of an interview board. The list of the selected prospects for an interview will be displayed on the Departmental Notice Board. The final selection for joining this program will be made on the basis of the interview. The students that have cleared UGC/CSIR( JRF) NET/ NET (LS)/ SET/ SLET/ GATE or have obtained DST INSPIRE. Fellowship/Teacher fellowship or have passed comparable exams or passed the M.Phil./M.Tech/ M.D/ M.E./ M.Pharm or comparable examination will not be needed to appear at the.written admission test yet they have to show up at the interview.

Important Dates:

• Last day of obtaining an application: 1st August 2019.
• Date, time and also the location of written examination: 7th August 2019 at 1 pm in the Lecture Theatre of Botany Department, 35 Ballygunge Round Road, Kolkata-700019.
• Declaration of qualified candidates for interview: 14th August 2019.
• Date of Interview: 21st August 2019.
• Declaration of names of finally selected candidates will be notified later.
  ( Subject to approval by the Respectable Vice-Chancellor).
