The National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) is currently looking for exceptionally motivated students interested in pursuing interdisciplinary research in engineering and natural sciences, social sciences, humanities and the arts. Unencumbered by the limitations of conventional disciplinary PhD programs, NIAS PhD students have an exceptional chance to expand their intellectual horizons beyond their narrow training throughout their thesis research at one of the listed areas. NIAS not only values such cross-pollination of thoughts but promotes and provides the essential support to its pupils to create an interdisciplinary orientation to problem-solving. This interdisciplinary ethos is also reflected in the work of its faculty and research scholars.

Eligibility:
Students that are applying against Project established PhD vacancy will have to pursue a research theme only within the profile and parameters of their respective project. They aren’t allowed to shift the fellowship from the Project under which they’ve been accepted, to work in the overall pool or in a different Project.
