Bones can sometimes be damaged or due to a mutation can completely lose their very property in regards to providing a rigid shape to the body and protecting our internal organs. A Swiss company, Bonesupport is an organisation that has created a niche for itself in a space that aims to develop biomaterials in order to improve and speed the process of bone repair.
The firm has now raised a whopping €51M through its IPO in an attempt to conduct additional trials on its products and step up its sales. The company reported also has plans to take its technology, Cerament, a notch up higher through this fund. The technology helps repair bone tissue within 12 months and can also be used to deliver drugs, such as vancomycin or gentamicin. The released antibiotics then treat patients with bone infections caused by multi-resistant bacteria over a period of time.
Among the investors are known names like European life sciences investors HealthCap and Lundbeckfond Invest. Consequently, Healthcap will now be a major shareholder in Bone support with a 15% stake.
