PhD Admissions 2017
The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) has been established by the Dept. of Biotechnology, Government of India (GoI), under the auspices of UNESCO, as an ‘Institution of National Importance’ by an Act of the Indian Parliament. The Centre offers education, training and research in the broad areas of Biotechnology and is equipped with the state-of-the-art research infrastructure. The details of various research programs at RCB can be seen at our website (www.rcb.res.in).
The PhD studentships in the following areas are being offered this year:
- Virus and host interactions, and molecular virology
- Inflammations and immune responses in human diseases
- Structural biology of transcription regulation
- Structural microbiology
Eligibility Criteria:
Qualifications: MSc/MTech in any branch of Life Sciences/ MPharm/ MVSc/ MBBS or an equivalent degree.
Qualifying Marks: 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in the qualifying degree examination (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC allowed as per the GoI norms).

In addition to the above, candidates should have qualified any of the following examin
ations and hold a valid fellowship offer at the time of interview.- Joint CSIR-UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR/UGC JRF)
- Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST – INSPIRE)
- DBT Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF)
- ICMR Junior Research Fellowship (ICMR-JRF)
The short-listed candidates will be called for an interview on 19-20 June, 2017.
Candidates who have appeared, or will be appearing, in the qualifying degree examination (final year/final semester) and whose result is still awaited, may also apply. However, the admission is pursuant to satisfactory fulfillment of the aforementioned criteria/ requirements at the time of joining.
Fellowship:
The students admitted to the program will have to avail the fellowship offered to them from the different granting agencies as per their rules.

Interested candidates may submit their application by filling the online application form available at website: www.rcb.res.in. The last date for submission of application is 27 th May 2017. Application fee of Rs.500/- has to be paid online through the payment gateway available in the website. The candidates belonging to SC, ST and Persons with Disabilities categories are exempted from payment of the application fee.
