The meeting Of Mr Pema Khandu with Samsung Electronics Vice President (Public Affairs) Mr Deepak Bharadwaj and Lead Govt Vertical Mr Vikram Sridharan has provided new opportunities for Samsung to partner with the state in its welfare activities. Under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) schemes, Samsung will provide high end X-Ray and ultrasound machines (approx cost Rs 2. 50 Crore) to three tentative hospitals identified by the state government.

In another initiative, Samsung intends to leverage students of NIT-AP, NERIST, polytechnics of the state and unemployed computer engineers to develop mobile applications using the Tizen OS. In this regard, it was resolved that tie-ups with Ministries of MSME and Skill Development would be explored. Samsung has offered to train Master trainers in the state free of cost under this program, said reports.

Khandu’s pursuance for skill development and employment generation further resulted in Samsung’s acceptance to extend its ‘Samsung Apprentice Program’ in Arunachal Pradesh. Under this programme, Samsung would enroll students of ITIs and Polytechnics and offer ‘on the job training’ in its Noida plant that will subsequently guarantee placement opportunities.

When informed that Samsung has already funded smart classes in all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in the country to set up Smart Digital Classrooms, the Chief Minister assured that the Arunachal government will inspect these smart classes of JNVs in Arunachal and send a report to the company. He requested the company to extend the usage of these facilities to other schools in the state as well.
