NCCS invites applications for following temporary positions in collaborative project between NCCS and a reputed Pharmaceutical Company.
The following are the components of the project:
- Targeted screening of compounds for their biological activity by; i) studying differential expression of proteins and ii) anti-proliferative activity in cell. lines.
- Isolation and purification of proteins by advanced purification techniques.
- Development and standardization of ELISA for the estimation of protein of interest in human serum.
- The Project will be for a period of 20 months and extendable for further period of 4 months.
Position I
- Name of the post : Research Scientist
- Upper Age Limit : 35 years
- Responsibilities : The position is a hands -on-position for performing cell based assays and experiments in the area of cell & molecular biology. The selected candidate will design, perform experiments, analyze and report the results to project leader. The scientist will supervise and monitor day-to-day progress in experiments performed by junior staff. Will ensure that the log books and record books are maintained up to date. Will also provide training when required to lab members.
- Qualifications and Experience :
Essential :PhD in cell biology
/ molecular biology/applied biology/biotechnology or in any discipline related to biological sciences. Experience of a minimum of 2 years post-doctoral experience in cell biology/ cancer biology /stem cell biology/ cell signaling documented by publications in peer reviewed international journals.Desirable : Experience in guiding/supervising project trainees/ fellows at master’s level.
- Consolidated Salary : Rs 40,000/- pm during the l” year and Rs. 45,000/- pm in the 2nd year of the project.
Position II
- Name of the post : Project Assistant
- Upper Age Limit : 32 years
- Responsibilities :
Assist in conducting experiments and perform other laboratory related duties. Maintain cell lines, set up cell culture assays such as viability test, IC-50 studies, perform western blotting, protein purification. The incumbent will document observations and maintain record book systematically.
- Qualifications and Experience :
Essential :M.Sc or M.Tech) in biology/biochemistry/biotechnology/ molecular biology/microbiology or any other discipline related to biological sciences Experience in cell culture techniques- maintenance of cell lines, cell freezing and revival, viability assays and western blotting. Should be prepared to travel for conducting experiments in collaborative institution.
Desirable : Exposure to protein biochemistry and experience in protein purification methods. Publication/s in national or international journals.
- Consolidated Salary : Rs 16000/ -p.m. for the Ist year and
Rs. 18,000/- p.m. for the 2nd year.
Position III
- Name of the post : Principle Scientist
- Upper Age Limit : 65 years
- Responsibilities :
The scientist will lead the team and will be responsible to plan and deliver the tasks in the project. The scientist will track progress for milestones and time lines, will conduct weekly meetings to discuss data generated by lab associates, review progress and coordinate with the industry counterpart at regular intervals. Review all protocols and experimental designs prior to assigning experimental studies to staff.
- Qualifications and Experience :
Essential : PhD in cell biology/ molecular biology/applied biology/biotechnology or in any discipline related to biological sciences. Should have more than 25 years of research experience with proven track record in cell biology /cancer biology/ stem cell biology in a reputed institute. Should have strong background in oncology and publications in peer reviewed international journals, experience in handling extramural funded projects from government and/or industries, collaborative projects with institutions and universities.
Desirable: – Highly motivated, committed person with good organizational skills and leadership qualities.
- Consolidated Salary : Rs.1, 70,000/- pm

Note :
- Mere fulfilling the minimum prescribed qualifications and experience will not vest any right in a candidate for calling for interview. The Centre reserves the right to call for interview only those candidates who in its
- 5% Marks relaxation will be given to SC/ST candidates i.e. minimum of 50 % marks

- All the above advertised positions are filled up purely on temporary basis for the limited time period on the project funded by the private company. The positions will automatically co-terminus on the completion of the project tenure.
Candidates should mention title of the thesis, list of publications with full references in the application form. - Upper age limit will be considered as on closing date of receipt of application. Age relaxation of 5 years in case of SC/ST/Women/PH candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates will be given as per Government oflndia rules. - No TA will be paid for attending the interview .
- Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer of appointment.
