About the Role
Twist Bioscience is seeking a dynamic Field Application Scientist (FAS) specializing in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) to join our Sales team. As the primary technical field contact, you will be pivotal in supporting customers, channel partners, and internal teams. Your responsibilities will include pre- and post-sales technical support, market development, and fostering collaborations for Twist’s NGS targeted enrichment product line. This role involves significant travel (up to 60%) across Southern India.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Expertise: Deliver in-depth technical knowledge of Twist’s NGS targeted enrichment capabilities and product offerings.
- Customer Support: Provide application support for pre- and post-sales activities to drive customer satisfaction and assist the sales team in achieving quotas.
- Field Engagement: Collaborate with Sales staff, attend meetings with key customers, provide training, and represent Twist at trade shows.
- Collaborations and Leads: Identify and nurture collaborations to support the sales team with leads.
- Technical Support:
- Assist with pre- and post-capture library generation/troubleshooting.
- Aid in post-sequencing data analysis and interpretation.
- Support experimental design and project management.
- Customer Interaction: Liaise between customers and internal teams (e.g., R&D, Bioinformatics, Technical Support) to ensure customer success.
- Market Insights: Gather Voice-of-Customer (VOC) feedback for product improvements and report competitive market trends.
Requirements
Educational Background:
- BA/BS with 3-5 years NGS experience.
- MS with 3+ years NGS experience.
- PhD with 1+ years NGS experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related fields.
Technical Proficiency:
- Hands-on experience with Illumina NGS instruments, DNA/RNA library construction, Whole Genome, Whole Exome, Transcriptome, and Custom Targeted Enrichment.
- Familiarity with probe design pipelines and bioinformatics data analysis (preferred but not mandatory).
Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the NGS market and its vendors.
Skills and Experience:
- High attention to detail and self-motivation.
- Proven ability to work in collaborative team environments.
- Strong experimental design and project management experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 60%.
