Subject: National Postdoctoral Fellowship (NPDF) Scheme — Revision of Fellowship

National Postdoctoral Fellows under the SERB — NPDF Scheme has been provided a research grant of Rs. 2.0 lakh per annum in addition to a fellowship of Rs. 55,000/- pm plus HRA (Rs. 35,000/ p.m plus HRA for candidates who have submitted the thesis, but degree not awarded). Overhead amounting to Rs. 1.0 lakh per annum is provided to host institute to provide necessary administrative and infrastructural support to the fellow.

The matter relating to revision of fellowship of NPDF was under consideration of the Board. The SERB Board has approved the revision of fellowship of NPDF to Rs. 80,000 per month plus applicable HRA / Rs. 50,000 per month plus applicable HRA, if thesis submitted but awaiting the award of PhD degree.

The revision of fellowship will take effect from 1st April 2023.

This issues with the approval of Board taken in its meeting held on 30.10.2023 and subsequent concurrence by Chairman, SERB vide a note of approval dated 07.01.2024.
