Applications are invited for one post of Project Assistant under E-YUVA, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Name of the Post – Project Assistant

No. of Posts – 01

Tenure – The candidates will be appointed initially for 1 year or till the tenure of the project, whichever is earlier. However, the posts can be extended on the basis of evaluation after completion of the tenure, if the project is extended. The posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. There shall be no financial liability on the part of the University, after the termination of the project. The incumbent shall have no claim whatsoever for the regularization of his/her services.

Upper age limit – 32 years

Eligibility: M.Sc./ M. Tech. in any subject of Life Sciences such as Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Microbial Biotechnology, Biophysics or any other related area. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a project or project handling, scientific report writing and hands-on experience in bioinstrumentation.

Desirable:

  1. Can you tell us about your experience in project handling and scientific report writing? Answer: Sure, I have previous experience in handling projects and writing scientific reports. During my M.Sc./M.Tech., I worked on a research project where I was responsible for designing and executing experiments, analyzing data, and preparing comprehensive reports on the findings.
  2. How comfortable are you with bioinstrumentation and hands-on laboratory techniques? Answer: I am very comfortable with bioinstrumentation and have hands-on experience in various laboratory techniques. I have worked extensively with instruments such as spectrophotometers, PCR machines, and centrifuges. I am skilled in performing techniques like DNA extraction, PCR amplification, gel electrophoresis, and protein purification.
  3. Can you describe a situation where you successfully handled a scientific and technical task? Answer: Certainly. In my previous role, I was tasked with optimizing a molecular biology protocol for gene expression analysis. I carefully reviewed the existing protocol, identified areas for improvement, and implemented modifications to enhance its efficiency. Through systematic troubleshooting and method optimization, I successfully achieved consistent and reliable results.
  4. How comfortable are you with assisting and guiding other researchers or team members? Answer: I am confident in my ability to assist and guide other researchers or team members. During my academic journey, I have often collaborated with fellow students and provided guidance in experimental techniques, data analysis, and troubleshooting. I believe in fostering a collaborative environment to promote effective teamwork and mutual growth.
  5. Have you been involved in any individual projects apart from academic coursework? Answer: Yes, I have been involved in individual projects outside of my academic coursework. For example, I initiated a personal research project where I investigated the antimicrobial properties of natural plant extracts. I planned and executed the experiments independently, analyzed the data, and presented my findings at a local scientific conference.
