WALK-IN INTERVIEW FOR PROJECT FELLOWS on 17/04/2023

Walk-in interview for interested and eligible candidates for Two (02) PROJECT FELLOWS in Zoological Survey of India, Western Regional Centre, Pune for projects sponsored by the Goa Biodiversity Board scheduled on 17.04.2023 at 10.30 AM at the Zoological Survey of India, Western Regional Centre, Akurdi, Rawet Road, Pune – 411044

Duration & Tenure – The projects are tentative up to March 2023 and shall be terminated as per the schedule. The positions are project-based and therefore the posts also terminated with the project tenure

General Instructions:

  1. Interested candidates should report to the venue (Zoological Survey of India, Western Regional Centre, Akurdi, Rawet Road, Pune – 411044 on 17/04/2023 at 10.30 AM) with filled in the application form as per the format, original documents for verification and one passport-size photo along with one set of photocopies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, proof of date of birth etc., as well as ‘No Objection Certificate’ from present employer (if employed) to submit at the time of interview. If the candidate wishes, they can send an advance copy of the application by email to [email protected].
  2. Candidates will be selected through a viva voice interview to be conducted by an expert panel and recommended candidates will be offered an appointment after due approval of the competent authority.
  3. Age Limit: Age shall not be more than 28 years as of the last date of application. Upper age limit relaxation for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-Non Creamy Layer (NCL)/Women/ Physically Challenged applicants, as per Govt. of India rules.
  4. Candidates selected will be liable to post as per the requirements, including field sites, and should be able to join the duty immediately within the prescribed timeline after the selection.
  5. The positions are project-based and candidates selected cannot claim any sort of permanent/ temporary employment in ZSI during or after the project tenure.
  6. At the time of the verification of original documents (even after selection), if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, such applicant will not be considered for selection and due action will be implemented.
  7. No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the interview.
  8. The Director, of the Zoological Survey of India, reserves the right to select or rejection of a candidature including cancellation of the advertisement without assigning any reason.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW

Fellowship: A Project Fellow will be paid a remuneration of Rs.20,000/- per month. The tenure of the Project Fellow will be for a period up to March 2023. House Rent Allowance will be allowed as per Government rules. Allowance towards meeting actual train fare/Bus fare and the Daily Allowance during travel for field work of the Project Fellow from and to the research station will be paid as per rules. However, no daily allowance will be paid during staying in the field.

Publication/Patent: All data/information collected during the project and afterwards belonging to ZSI and Project Fellow cannot claim any rights on the same. However, the results of research work will be encouraged to publish in peer-reviewed journals as well as other popular forms of scientific documentation at the discretion of the Director, ZSI. Due authorship will be given to all researchers and other team members, who have contributed to research papers and patents. In case of any dispute, the Director, ZSI will resolve it amicably. Due acknowledgement will be given to all funding agencies in all publications arising out of research work conducted at ZSI. The right to commercial exploitation of the results and patent arising out of the investigation will, however, rest exclusively with ZSI.

If a Project Fellow wishes to leave the fellowship before the end of the tenure, it should be with the prior approval of the Director, ZSI. Similarly, the Project Fellow can be terminated, if the Director, ZSI is not satisfied with the progress or conduct of the Project Fellow, or even without assigning any reasons and it shall be binding on the part of the Project Fellow.

The rules regarding selection, payment of funds, utilization of the contingent grant, submission of progress report, tenure, publications and the patents, leave for temporary or paid lectureship research job etc. shall be applicable to Project Fellow as per guidelines of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.

Any kind of paid or honorary, part-or-full-time employment or private practice even in an honorary capacity is not permissible during the tenure of Fellowship.

The stipend of Project Fellow is exempt from the payment of income tax under 10 (16) of the IT Act.

Job Description – The candidate selected is expected to undertake extensive field surveys in the mountains, forests, wetlands and coastal and marine areas including protected areas and eco-sensitive zones of Goa, and therefore, required to be physically fit to undertake research in terrain and hostile conditions. Project fellows will be posted at WRC, Pune or Goa for a longer duration also, based on requirements.

Educational Qualifications – Master’s degree in Zoology / Life Sciences/Wildlife Science/ Environmental Sciences or any equivalent qualification with Zoology as a major subject at graduation level from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks.

Desirable Qualifications – Research experience in taxonomy, systematics, zoology or allied subject, field survey experience in wildlife, wildlife photography, knowledge of Computer and basic field data collection

Remuneration – Rs. 20,000/- + Admissible HRA (As per Govt. of India rules)

  4. How do you plan to contribute to the project?
    Answer: I plan to use my expertise in conducting field surveys and data collection to contribute to the project. I will also ensure that all data collected is accurate and reliable, and will work with the team to analyze and interpret the data.
  5. What are your future career aspirations?
    Answer: I aspire to continue working in the field of biodiversity conservation and contribute to the scientific understanding of various ecosystems. I also plan to pursue a Ph.D. in the future to further develop my research skills and knowledge.
