Temporary Positions of Project Scientist-I, Research Associate-I, Junior Research
Fellow
National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) is an autonomous Institute under
Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. NABI aims at catalysing the
transformation of the Agri-food sector in India by being a nodal organization for knowledge
generation and translational science leading to value-added products based on Agri-Food
biotech innovations for improved household nutritional security. Since its inception in 2010,
NABI is involved in research activities for the Biofortification, development of designer
crops for improved nutrition, providing sustainable and novel solutions towards quality food
and nutrition, and development of evidence-based functional foods to counter malnutrition.
The food and Nutritional Biotechnology division at NABI require the following research
personnel purely on a temporary basis.
Post I
Name of the Post – Project Scientist-I

Name of the Project – “Germplasm Characterization and trait discovery in wheat using Genomics Approaches and its integration for improving Climate Resilience, Productivity and Nutritional Quality”
Name of the Principal Investigator – Dr. Monika Garg, Scientist E
Name of the Co-Principal Investigator – Dr. Koushik Mazumder, Scientist E
Duration – The appointment will be till the termination of the project
Age Limit – The age limit of applicants will be 35 years. (Relaxation is admissible in case of
SC/ST/OBC/women/physically disabled as per government of India instructions).

Name of the Post – Project Scientist-I

Name of the Project – Molecular and biochemical characterization of nutritional enriched transgenic plants.
Name of the Principal Investigator – Dr. Siddharth Tiwari, Scientist E.
Duration – The RA fellowship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years only, and in exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of t e research, the
fellowship may be extended to 4 years. Based on the candidate research experience and performance, the committee may recommend the up-gradation of RA levels.
Age Limit – The age limit of applicants for RA will be 40 years. (Relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC/women/physically disabled as per government of India instructions).
* FOR RA-I Candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis and are waiting for viva voce may also apply (For such candidates, fellowship amount will be that of an SRF until he/she submit the completion of PhD certificate.
Post IV
Name of the Post – Junior Research Fellow
No. of Posts – 01
Name of the Project – “Improvement of starch based processing and nutritional quality in wheat”
Name of the Principal Investigator – Dr. Joy K Roy, Scientist F
Duration – The total duration will be five years from the date of joining. The tenure of JRF will be initially for two years. Upgradation from JRF to SRF will be after completion of two years subject to a progress report of two years submitted by the scholar.
Age Limit – The age limit of applicants will be 28 years. (Relaxation is admissible in case of
SC/ST/OBC/women/physically disabled as per government of India instructions).
Post V
Name of the Post – Junior Research Fellow

Name of the Project – “Development of aptamer based multiple biosensor pesticides
in real time”
Name of the Principal Investigator – Dr. Nitin Kumar Singhal, Scientist E
Duration – The appointment will be initially for two years as JRF or till the termination of the project whichever is earlier. Further up-gradation from JRF to SRF will be on the basis of submission of progress report and further assessment.

Name of the Project – “Investigating the role and regulatory aspect of intrinsically
disordered region(s) in DOF-transcription factors with emphasis to rice grain quality
Name of the Principal Investigator – Dr. Prafull Salvi
Duration – The appointment will be initially for two years as JRF or till the termination of the project whichever is earlier. Further upgradation from JRF to SRF will be on the basis of
submission of progress report and further assessment.
Age Limit – 28 years (Relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC/PD and women candidates as per GOI instructions)

summarily rejected. - The applications should be submitted strictly as per the prescribed format that can be
downloaded from the NABI website. - Kindly send a complete filled application form (Single adobe pdf file) through email only.
- Candidates applying for more than one position can give their preference in the same
application by ticking multiple positions. No need to submit a separate application form for each position. - Kindly do not send any documents with the application form. Candidates will be provisionally shortlisted on the basis of information given in the application form. All the documents related to eligibility i.e. Age, educational qualification, Experience etc (in-original) will be verified at a later stage before issuing an offer/award letter.
- No application form will be accepted after the due date i.e. 22.01.2022.
- Eligible candidates will be informed via email of the interview schedule.

Essential Qualification – Doctoral Degree in Science or Master Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable – Experience in Mass Spectroscopy, Chromatography (GC/LC), Microscopy (SEM/TEM)
Emoluments – Project Scientist-I will be hired as per emoluments’ guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (OM No. SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 21.08.2019) Rs 56000/ month + HRA)
For Post II
Essential Qualification – Doctoral Degree in Science or Master Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable – Experience in bio-informatics (Analyzing data at genome, Proteome, transcriptome, and metabalome levels.
Emoluments – Project Scientist-I will be hired as per emoluments’ guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (OM No. SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 21.08.2019) Rs 56000/ month + HRA)
For Post III
Essential Qualification – PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree having three years of
research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/M Pharma/ ME/M
Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desired Experience –
- Experience in plant tissue culture, Plant gentic engineering, Molecular and Biochemical analyses of transgenic plants.
- Practical knowledge of gene cloning and expression & purification of recombinant
plant proteins. - Relevant research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Emoluments – The RA will be hired as per emoluments’ guidelines and service conditions
notified by DST (OM No. SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30-01-2019) Rs 47000/ month + HRA)
For Post IV
Essential Qualification –
Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate /Post Graduate Degree in professional
course selected through a process described through any one of the following –
- Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR-UGC-NET including
Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE - The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Desirable – Proven experience in agricultural biotechnology and molecular biology, especially in molecular markers and QTL mapping studies; experience in basic informatics tools.
Project Summary –
The project activities are given below –
- Development of different types of mapping population in wheat;
- Genotyping of wheat germplasm/mapping population/EMS mutant lines using molecular
markers; - Phenotyping of starch related and other agro-morphological traits on the wheat lines at
multi-locations within India; - Identification of markers or candidate genes associated with starch quality traits using
QTL mapping approach. - Conversion of candidate markers and genes into breeder’s markers for selection in
breeding program.
Emoluments – Junior Research Fellows will be hired as per emoluments’ guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (OM No. SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30.01.2019) Rs 31000/ month + HRA)
For Post V
Essential Qualification –
Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate /Post Graduate Degree in professional
course selected through a process described through any one of the following –
- Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR-UGC-NET including
Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE - The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Desirable Experience – Experience in aptamer and synthesis work.
For Post VI
Essential Qualification –
Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate /Post Graduate Degree in professional
course selected through a process described through any one of the following –
- Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR-UGC-NET including
Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE - The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Responsibility – Recruited JRF will work on the yeast system for protein-protein and
DNA-protein interaction study, development of rice transgenics plants and study the gene
regulatory network associated with grain quality and (a)biotic stress response in rice.
Emoluments – Rs. 31000/- per month Plus HRA as per project.
