Covid Mobile Application, Co-WIN For Easing Vaccination Process

A digital dais with a mobile application which is an upgraded version of the Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) has been devised by the Union Health Ministry for real-time checking of COVID-19 vaccine distribution, logging information, and allowing people to register for immune shots.

Discussing with a press meeting on Tuesday,  Rajesh Bhushan, Health Secretary claimed that the platform, Co-WIN, will assist in keeping track of the entire vaccination procedure.

Co-WIN electronic system includes a cost-free downloadable mobile application that can aid log vaccination information. Individuals can register themselves on the application if they require the shots. There are 5 modules in the Co-WIN app – report module, beneficiary acknowledgment module, vaccination module, registration module, and administrator module, he stated.

Mr. Bhushan mentioned that the administrator part is for the managers who will be carrying out these vaccination trials.

With these modules, they can produce sessions, and also the respective vaccinators and supervisors will be alerted, he affirmed.

The registration module is for individuals to get signed up for shots. It will upload huge data on co-morbidity given by surveyors or by local authorities.

The vaccination module will confirm recipient information and renew vaccination conditions

while the beneficiary acknowledgment component will send a text message to beneficiaries as well as produce QR-based certifications after one gets immunized.

The report module will organize records of the number of vaccination sessions performed, the count of people who participated and dropped out, so on, Bhushan declared while clarifying on the digital system.

The mobile app will also provide real-time information of the temperature level of the cold-storage provisions to the main server, he asserted.

While discussing the adverse scenario, Bhushan told that there is a demand to prepare individuals to accept a few side effects as arising for all vaccines.

Bhushan said that there are 6 COVID-19 vaccine contenders in different scientific trial phases being developed by numerous makers in India.
