Fully-Funded PhD Studentship @ EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Chemistry
This call expires in :
In 2013, the University of Nottingham was awarded £5.28M to establish the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Chemistry. Developed in collaboration with Industry and as a partnership of several disciplines including chemistry, engineering, biosciences and business, the Centre aims to train students in the development of sustainable processes and compounds for the chemistry-using industries. The defining principle that has driven the co-creation of the CDT training programme is a shared vision and commitment to foster a new generation of champions for sustainable chemistry – these individuals will be equipped with the skills and experience to lead chemistry-using industries towards a more sustainable future.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified graduates for a fully funded 4-year PhD studentship at the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Chemistry for a start in October 2018.
We are looking to recruit students interested in a wide range of research areas within the fields of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biosciences, the examples of research areas include the following:
Catalysis, including biocatalysts
Electrochemistry and photochemistry
Brewing and fermentation sciences
Bioprocesses, environmental and chemical technologies
Microwave process engineering
Food, water and waste
Life cycle analysis
Ideally, candidates are expected to hold at least an upper second class honours degree from a 4-year undergraduate course in the fields of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biosciences, Natural Sciences, Biotechnology and Pharmacy or a 3-year undergraduate course plus a Masters degree and/or one year experience in industry.
We are currently acceptig applications for October 2018 start.
The application process involves two steps:
Completion of University of Nottingham Online Application Form
When completing this form, please make sure that you quote course code F19N
Completion of a short EPSRC CDT in Sustainable Chemistry Application Form
Applicatin deadline is 26 January 2018.
