National conference on “Recent Trends in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology” during September 25 and 26 organized by Department of Genetic Engineering, SRM University, Chennai in collaboration with Reserach Journal of Biotechnology. Eminent speakers from all over the country will be delivering lectures on latest topics in the areas of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.

The Department was started 13 years back with B.Tech program in Genetic Engineering. It is the only place in India offering Genetic Engineering courses in B.Tech, M.Tech, Integrated Ph.D and Ph.D. Teaching both the basics and advanced subjects in genetic engineering through rigorous laboratory experiment is unique to this department. Advanced subjects include recombinant DNA technology, genomics, cytogenetics, gene therapy, stem cell biology, genetic counselling, etc. We have exceptionally talented faculty with PhD and post doctoral experience from varied fields such as Plant Genetics, Human Genetics, Genomics, Microbial Genetics, Stem Cell Biology, Molecular Medicine, Cancer Biology, and Neuroscience. We have 500 students currently pursuing their UG & PG courses in our department. Around 200 students have opted for semester abroad program and they carried out their research project with renowned researchers around the world.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology are interrelated field of applied science, which 
involves the living system in manipulating and developing products required for human benefits. This multi-disciplinary conference aims to provide a challenging forum for researchers, academicians and industry practitioners to share their original research and product development experiences in emerging areas. The conference consists of plenary lectures from invited speakers, and oral presentation/posters by the delegates. The topics of interest include but are not limited to:

- Biotechnology
- Tissue Engineering
- Genome Editing
- Biology of Climate Change
- Microbial Technology
The registered participants can submit full-length article or participate as a delegate without submitting any abstract. From the submitted full length article, selection will be made for oral or poster presentation and intimated. All the selected full-length articles ( oral or poster) will be subjected to peer review for publication in Research Journal of Biotechnology. This journal is indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SciSearch®), Scopus, BioTechnology Citation Index®, Chemical Abstracts, Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition, and has an impact factor of 0.233 and SNIPof0.242 for the year 2016.
