5th
th National Workshop
Next Generation Sequencing Data Analysis
Biomedical Informatics Centre, National Institute of Pathology-ICMR, New Delhi
15th to 17th March, 2017
Announcement
National Institute of Pathology is one of the premier research Institutes of Indian
Council of Medical Research and has infrastructure and expertise in various aspects of
“Modern Technologies” such as genomics, proteomics, immunology, structural and stem cell
biology etc.
Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) through whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and
whole-exome sequencing (WES) technologies has produced breakthrough in understanding
complexity of genomes including point mutations, small insertions or deletions, copy number
alterations and structural variations in disease conditions.
Transcriptome sequencing (RNA sequencing/RNA-Seq) provides fundamental
insights into altered gene expression of genetic variants in different experimental conditions.
The differentially expressed genes in a specific disease could hold clues for disease diagnosis
and therapeutic target discovery. Recently, transcriptome sequencing mostly relies on NGS
methodology and techniques. The purpose of this workshop is to get a deeper understanding
in NGS with a special focus on bioinformatics issues. All workshop attendees will be enabled
to perform important first tasks of NGS data analysis themselves. The course layout has been adapted to the needs of beginners in the field of NGS bioinformatics and
Topics to be covered
- NGS technology overview
- NGS file format and QC
- NGS Genomic data analysis: Alignment, Variant calling and annotations
- De novo assembly
- RNA-Seq Data Analysis: Differential expression analysis
- Annotations, Network and Pathway analysis of differentially expressed genes
Who should attend?
M.B.B.S./M.Sc/M.Tech/M.D./Ph.D. students, faculty members, biomedical scientists,
clinicians from any branch of Biomedical sciences or a relevant field. Maximum no. of
participants for the workshop will be restricted to 20. Candidate selection will be based on
first come first serve basis.
How to Apply?
Candidates interested to participate in the workshop may send their registration form
duly filled along with one-page brief CV and scanned copy of Demand Draft of Rs. 5000/-
towards registration fee in favour of National Institute of Pathology, New Delhi, payable at
New Delhi through email to [email protected] on or before 6/03/2017.
