Exclusive portal for dengue patients launched by the Health Department of Gurgaon

After reaching a three year high in dengue cases, Gurgaon district health department is taking all steps it can, to combat dengue. After introducing larvae-eating fish, it has now gone online to help people suffering from dengue.

Now, patients in Gurgaon can get information like available blood groups, map of all hospitals in the city and details of insurance schemes on humvsdengue.org. It is a first-of-its-kind exclusive portal for dengue patients launched by the state government.

“The initiative will make it easier for volunteers to register themselves for blood donation, and also dengue patients to find donors. Besides this, the portal has all information about dos and don’ts at this time of the year. The objective is to prevent spread of dengue,” told Snehlata, deputy civil surgeon (vector-borne diseases), Gurgaon.

The portal also gives out information on the total number of dengue cases reported in the city, the number of confirmed cases and the number of patients being treated. The authorities, with the help of a private company, have already initiated a free insurance scheme for students of government schools. , Snehlata said, “It is important for children and their parents to know about the exact benefits of the free insurance scheme rolled out by the district authorities.”

The authorities have also provided anti-mosquito fogging helpline (1800-180-1817) and dengue awareness helpline (0124-2222465) that will be operational from 9 am to 5 pm.
